Mysis Shrimp thoughts..

Piscine Frozen PE Mysis Shrimp has - 69% protein - Cost $$- shrimp harvested from glacier fed lake Okanagan in BC, Canada


Hikari Mysis - 11.9% of protein - Cost $- shrimp harvested from glacier fed lake Okanagan in BC, Canada as well!!

How can the same shrimp shrimp from the same lake in Canada has such different protein percentages!?!?! both are dry protein percentages...

the prices difference on these two are very different..

any ideas for the protein %'s differences?

Many times the protein content takes the liquid in which the Mysis are frozen into account. One may contain a lot of liquid the other may not.

I believe that it has something to do with canada and the way they measure proteins,water and whatnot.

There does seem to be a difference in acceptance of the two brands, at least for me. For me PE is universally accepted whereas Hikari is not.

Personally, I prefer the Hikari; they tend to be smaller.

The Hikari are much cleaner and basically don't need to be rinsed. I've been mixing them since I bought way too much

I've used both. They seem comparable to me but Hikari are definitely much smaller. There seems to be more water with the Hikari, could that be part of the lower protein %?

I used the PE yesterday for the first time and kept the Hikari in the freezer.. I did notice a little more cloudiness in the water compared to the Hikari. The shrimp are definitely much larger than Hikari.

As I continue convo's, I'm starting to think it has to do with what it is packaged with (water or not) and how it is analyzed. I think im going to try and contact PE about and see what their explanation is..

Are we talking about the same Hikari mysis? Hikari came out with the freshwater mysis and they still have the saltwater small mysis.
