Mysterious green slime...

So, last night i was doing a water change. I usually do this by turning off one of the units in my Ghettofuge, draining it, then filling it, so as to disturb the rest of the system as little as possible. I drained the feather caulerpa unit and noticed something odd. There was a green film/cloud the bottom 2 inches or so of the fuge. I ran my hand through it, and none came out. It just went around my fingers. So, is this the sexual repro everyone seems so worried about? I checked it this morning, and it's gone. Skimmer is working normally. Any ideas what that was?

Hey hubris007,

When caulerpa reproduces sexually the plant itself is actually broken down to make gametes. If the caulerpa had gone sexual today it would be clear, mushy, and partially decomposed. That was probably some sort of microalgae bloom but i'm not really sure.
