Mysterious snail

So today while looking at my tank in the dark I saw a mysterious snail climbing up the walls of my tank....

It looks like a big brown nassarius but I thought those guys don't climb...

Could it be a whelk?

I banished him to the sump

If he's harmful in the morning I'll turn him over to the puffers

I ll try and take some tomorrow,

He's darker then any nassarius I've ever seen and way bigger something like 1.5-2ins

My nassarius like to climb too
But big and dark is bad. Also, idk if nassarius really hitchike into tanks much, they're usually added on purpose.
Here's some good side-by-side pics of whelks and nass's http://melevsreef.com/node/1716
Idk if even a whelk gets 2" I've only seen nerites and turbos get that big myself

Yes please get a picture but it could also be a Stomatella snail. They are a score on the hitchhiker list. I've got several of them in my tank but I've also got Nassarius snails. Nassarius snails have a big shell the Stomatella has a little short shell that really doesn't appear to be a snail shell at all, more like a thumbnail riding on its back. They come in many different colors the ones I have are mostly black, with white ish stomach's.

To me the Stomatella is one of the if not the best at cleaning algae from your whole tank. But please get a picture for proper verification.

Looks like a conch to me...

Does it have eye stalls? I can't tell.

Edit:
I see eye stalks, I'm going with conch. Specific species I can't tell, def a strombus of some kind though.

Op can you get some super close up pics of where the "trunk" is coming out of? B

Actually zooming in on pic 2 it does look like a fighting conch.
