mystery coral

I have one of those and the polyps dont come out like his.

I am curious to know if there are any sweepers at night?

ime polyp extension of the same coral can vary greatly by tank, even when they are both my tanks.

No sweepers that I've ever seen. Everything around it seems to be growing fine without being attached.

Yes, I think they do. If you look at the pictures green7 and green8 you can see a small area in the center where I got the polyps to retract.
then i believe you have an echinopora lamellosa, check the link to coral search a few posts up(edit: the next post down). So do i win free frag for coming up with the right species? :D

Not to be argumentative but I dont believe this to be an Echinopora. Echino usually has sweepers and the coralites in the pic doesnt seem to have the same structure as the echino. But then again I could be wrong:D!

I am just basing it on him saying the corallites look the same, which tells me it's not astreopora. I may not be right, but it's the best I could come up with.

Cyphastrea japonica

They started coming in heavy about 6 months ago from Vietnam shipments. Interestingly, they were sent in as Montipora danae. They said "Like the Superman Monti"

The plating thrpws me off a bit but I am pretty positive about the ID. I have a few colonies I am working with.

no cyphastrea in borneman's book, only a mention, but i was close, in the right family at least.

Would you have some pictures you could share? I would like to see them.

Wow, those photos are almost identical. At least from an amateurs gaze (like me).
