While removing a price of live rock to glue a new coral to it I noticed a clutch of black eggs. At first it looked like a really ugly spot of algae but it was on the underside of the rock where no light gets too.

Current tank parameters are all near perfect and all stable. Tank inhabitants are a pair of ocellaris clowns, 3 green chromis, yellowtail damsel, kole tang and cleaner wrasse along with an emerald crab and an assortment of cleaner snails and hermit crabs

Of course, just guessing here, but it's probably not the clowns - they would most likely be protecting it and it'd be pretty obvious the clutch is theirs... they are also not usually black. is it where they normally hang out and sleep?

I don't know what Chromis eggs look like or whether they protect the clutch like clowns do.

Hard to take a pic unless I disturb the rocks again. Looked like a black sludge stuck to the underside of a flat rock I leaned against another to make a little cave. Upon closer look at the 'sludge' and you can see eggs. Clowns usually hang out above this particular rock and hover around my torch coral. Chromis wonder the tank in no particular pattern. The damsel is the only one the really frequents that area in and around the rocks.
