Mystery Invert, Stumped!

Hello, a guy at work is a member here, and mentioned I should join up! Anyway, purchased a zoa colony from the LFS, a couple months ago (first coral purchase), and it had this thing pictured on it. After a a month or so it started to grow, so I tried to remove it. It was fairly fiberous when pulling/cutting it off the colony (was choking the polyps). After another month or so, it grew back, and tried removing it again.
So after trying to remove it twice, I gave up and fragged the colony and let the whatever it is have them. Since then it has become two units and grown quite a bit and started to move off the colony and onto the base rock. When the polyps are closed, you can see what it looks like to be breathing (rhythmic contractions).
Any ideas what it is? So far everyone at the LFS, and others haven't a clue what it is! Thanks!
