I am considering adding a mystery wrasse to my 120.

Here is my existing stocklist:

scopas tang
chevron tang
japanese swallowtail angel
pair of tank raised clown
GBM clown
leapord wrasse
pseudo fridmani

I am somewhat worried about he leaopard wrasse. Fish has been doing great.

Yes, the leopard wrasse may be a problem since they would both compete for the same copepods and mystery wrasses often are aggressive towards other wrasses.

MIne has always been fine with anything that is added to the tank even other wrasses, however i think mine is the exception to the rule as most you read about are complete a**'s

I have a 4in mystery and a 3in long fin fairy ignoring each other very well. I really don't see either actively eating any of my pods and I have more then plenty of them.

What he did hunt down and kill was every one of my shrimps I had minus a tiger pistol shrimp that he is always eyeing but wont go near. He must have been popped once or twice I'm sure.

I do feed them all well and always throw in a peice of krill just for him. He either is the first to grab it or will take it away from any other fish which is usually one of my clowns.

It may be wiser to add a one or a small harem of the wussie flasher or fairie wrasses since I stocked my tank with wussie fish to begin with. I love the badassitude of the sixline but nonetheless he went back to LFS when it was time to upgrade. My leaopard is pretty good size. I did not realize the the mystery can be a shrimp muncher.

Maybe I should simply go with a few scisortail dart fish. I have not done them in years since I kept a few firefish Thanks!

I had up to four firefish at once. They didn't really fight but they paired off and went to opposite sides of the tank. Im down to two now. One jumped despite my birdnet top and the other just disappeared one day. The last two have been happy for over a year and share a burrow together. If your gonna do a group, I would go with 7 to try to avoid a bunch of pairs.

i just got a mystery wrasse myself and he's been chased around by several damsels and my blue throat trigger, even got him to jump into the overflow once but my scopas tang and tomato clown has left him alone. at first i was concerned about my cleaner wrasse getting harassed by the mystery wrasse or the other way around but it looks like both of them could care less about each other.

he still hides a lot but i think that will change after a while (hopefully)

I had 3 reds and a purple and they all were fine. The lady I bought them from had them in a bio cube for over a year. So even in close quarters they didn't kill each other off. They do kinda shoal to some extent. If you start with 7 and are reduced to one I would really look for reasons other than they killed each other off. They are very easily spooked however and will jump through the tiniest holes.
