Naka,
Your tank is absolutly stunning. I am new to the whole reef tank thing and am currently in the research stage. I love your tank. I get the overflow thing in the back of the tank, but i am very unclear about the holes in the bottom. You say it is for your closed loop water system so I know there are pumps that you have running below. Could you please fill me in on the different holes that you have in the bottom of your tank I am trying to figure out how you would set that up. Thank you for your time.

Ryan
Thanks Ryan, 4 x 1" holes are for my return that alternates by Oceans Motion 4 way. Only 2 holes open at a time for my return on a closed loop system. The pump is Reeflo Dart (3600 gph) that's on all the time. Constantly the water is being circulated at the bottom of my tank aimed towards back glass pushing all the detrius towards top and front.

thanks,

James

Do you find your reeflo dart to be enough?
Since the addition of more sps, I wouldn't mind going bigger. However, after looking at my electricity bill, maybe staying w/ 140w Dart isn't such a bad idea.

Very true. Its always good to find ways to eliminate a reoccuring cost.

I would love to get a tank in the same style as you havewith the holes in the bottom. The problem is I want to have at least a 4 inch white sugar fine sand bed in it. Naka, do you think that if you wanted too, would you be able to attach say 4 1/4" Long pvc pipe to the wholes in the bottom of your tank so that the sand doesn't get in there and still have the same effect of your water movement? Just trying to come up with an idea cause I don't want power heads all over the place.

Cool tank, especially the lighting, who retails this lighting in the US. Maybe you could give your reasons for this choice and thoughts behind it.

Thanks MGB

You could have pvc "risers" to bring the outlets up above the sand bed then have them angled at 45 deg. or something - that shouldn't bother the sand bed too much. Then hide them with some rocks. After the pvc gets covered with coraline, they'll be invisible. I brought my closed loop in through the bottom too. But I only did one 1.5" hole <slap's self in head> so I can't do an OM device. Another thing to fix on my next tank... Here's my CL setup: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=6046080#post6046080

Great photos James,
Do you find the Garibaldi aggressive?

Josh
Hey Josh, what's up mate? Garibaldi was the latest edition, so no I don't find him aggressive yet. Let's wait couple of months, and see how aggressive he gets.

naka, no problem! That rose is hardier than you think. Talk to it every morning and it will fluorish well. ;)

I love that expensive damsel! ;) Lets see how long it takes for everyone to copy your fish idea again. ;)
