FTS 2/2007

Nice tank shot Naka. Looks like I have to change the wallpaper on my PC again. Can't recall who's tank is currently on it. Hmmm... ;)

Naka,

I've been following your thread for a while now, but the new FTS is just so gorgeous that I had to post and compliment you. You really have done something amazing, and inspired me to do a rimless tank as well.

A couple questions:

1) Sorry if I missed this, but what pump are you running on the CL? Why did you choose to add the vortech rather than just upgrading to a bigger CL pump?

2) Now that you've had the sfiliogoi for a while, what is your take on it? Does it give you adequete spread for your 30" depth?

3) What is that maxijet to the right of the overflow for?

Thanks.

Thanks Solly!

1) I'm using Sequence Dart for my CL. Main purpose is to keep the detrius suspended. All the flow is directed towards the back, so I need the Vortech to move the flow left to right. Without Vortech, I would not have enough random flow for sps.

2) I love my lights, never had any problems with it. The spread is perfect for 30" depth. I would also use it for 36" depth.

3) Maxijet is to provide extra flow for my sps on the right side. I have the Tunze 6055 preordered to replace it. It's taking longer than expected, but I think it's going to be worth the wait. It's going to be on a controller to create more random flow.

I have a 6045 on my 58 gallon, and I love the flow. I have it pointing towards my sps section.

By the way, how are your Gonioporas doing? I saw one in your picture above.

Kevin

Thanks everyone! Kevin, I can't wait to play around w/ 6055. I love the fact that you can point the flow multi directional.
The red and green gonioporas are doing great. I feed mine at least 2 to 3 times a week. Here some pictures from top.

It's about 6" across when expanded

This is the only picture I have of the green

What are you feeding them?
rotifers, oyster egg, cyclopeez, bio plankton, coral plankton, all mixed. That's what I feed most of my lps.

Do you just dose the tank with that or target feed?

Who is the manufacturer of your tank? Its a very clean and nice tank you have there. Can you give me the dimensions of each glass and is the bottom and back part of the tank acrylic? Thanks!

Thanks for all the compliments. This tank was built by Aquarium Environments in Houston. You can email or call Jaime Depujades (jdepujadas@aquariumenvironments.com) about the cost of the tank. And yes it is under warranty!

IÃ"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚¯ve always wanted the open top look w/ light fixture suspended from my ceiling, so IÃ"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚¯m going with Sifiligoi Infinity HQI 2 x 250w (10k Ushio/BLV) with T5. ItÃ"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚¯s a 48Ã"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚± fixture w/ 2 x ACLS to control the lighting schedule. I ordered the light back in February, and itÃ"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚¯s finally here.

The plumbing starts next week also, b/c Red Dragon pumps are taking forever to get here. RD 6.5 for the return and 12Ã"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚¯s for the closed loop w/ OM 4 way. IÃ"šÃ‚¡Ã"šÃ‚¯ll post more pictures later next week when I get my stand in.

Thanks,

Naka

Robster, I turn ALL the pumps off then target feed them w/ syringe. All the pumps comes back on after 10 min. except for the return pump. Return comes back on 2 hrs. later.

Chingy, I have all the answers on page 1 of my thread.

Naka, I've been following your thread for awhile but I think it's about time I chimed in. I love that zoa pic where the red ones are spreading onto the BB bottom. It should look awesome in a few more months .

Naka,
Amazing. That is all I have to say. I have been watching this thread for a while , and have fallen in love with your tank. Keep up the good work.
I am actually moving to Houston this July, and was wondering about a chiller. I noticed you have one. I know you said it doesn't come on much. I am going to do a 240 when I get to Houston and wonder if you recomend me getting a chiller? I am just trying to get a long list together.

Thanks,

Rick

thanks guys! Rick, I would definitely get a chiller if you going to have a reef tank in Houston. Shoot me a PM when you get to Houston.
