Nano and Anemones Who have them?

Hello,

Who have nano tanks set up with only an anemone in them? If you have one, can you please tell me details about it. What size tank, what type of filtration are you using, what type of lighting, how much water flow, how long has it been set-up, and of course what type of anemone do you have in it?

Thanks in advanced.

Cheers,
Chris

i have a bta anemone in my nanocube 12dx. i have a custom hood on the tank with 24wpc and 70wmh lighting. i have lr rubble in the first chamber, a refugium with fuge light in the 2nd chamber, and i replaced the stock pump in the 3rd chamber with a maxijet 1200 for tons of flow. i have a nanobob surface skimmer to help get the surface of my water clean. the nano is only about 9 months old however when i first started it i used items from an already established tank of mine. i had a sebae anemone in there for about 7 months and i traded it in for this bta which has been in there for about a month now.

I have an antler/stinging anemone (Lebrunia danae) but there will be no corals and it is a Caribbean biotope in a JBJ nanocube 6.

Sebae in a 12 gal FBH. 2000 millenium, protein skimmer(a must IMO) two Rio 200. Lighting is 2x36watt 50/50 and 1x28watt 5050 PC. I have found that xenia and anemones get along together with no problem.
Hope that helps.

K_Kagy,

I was just checking out your gallery. The pictures of you tank look great. And seeing the clown fish spawn. How cool.

How do the zoos do with the Sebae?

How long have you had your Sebae?

Thanks,
Chris

I have had my sebae about a year and a half. Zoas are no good with the anemone. They stay on there side and the anemone on its. I have found that the anemone grows until it touches something in the tank that it doesn't get along with. My clam gets stung sometimes, but no biggie. I moved some stuff around to give the anemone some more room and it grew a third its size.

--Anyway, the anemone kills the zoas that get too close, but I have lots of them!

I have kept numerous BTA's and a RBTA in my 20g tank. I am now keeping one of my (so we think) favourite BTA's that resembles a riterri (which it MAY be but all evidence is leaning towards BTA now) anywhoo....

Mine is kept in a 20g with two Seio 620's for flow (one on each end) And the tank is lit by a 150w HQI MH pendant (20k bulb) The tank has been setup since August of 2004. Although, I added my first anemone 3 months into tank setup (yea back off!) haha... and it thrived and split many many times. It can definately be done in nanos, with extra care and attention of course..

Good luck. HTH.

Scott
