nano ato 3152 - sticking float

I've had the 3152 for a few days under 1 year. Over the last couple months it's seemed to stick a little making for more variation in water level. I wasn't concerned until very recently. It completely stick now, both in the up and down position. The float never sits flat on the water but is always slanted.

The float does not have any water in it and is clean. There are no burrs on the shaft or float. There is no calcium or other buildup and no snails in the tank.

Here is a picture of it sticking in the low position keeping the ato running. (luckily I was sitting next to the tank and heard it running excessively)

Any chance you swapped a magnet with another Tunze product? The float is magnetic and too strong of a magnet can pin the float.

No, it's the original magnet that came with the nano and I don’t have any other tunze magnets. This is on a 2.2 pico with some pretty thin glass. I never tried spacing the magnet further away to see if the angled float goes away. I'll try it tongiht. Thanks for the help, I'll reply back with the results.

Yes, just a tip I got from a customer, a piece of a beer coozy works well and since these are free at so many promos etc, you probably have one to cut up. Otherwise, a mouse pad, acrylic sheet, etc will all work.

Thank you. Just got home and when moving the magnet I watched the float follow it. Added a 3/8" peice of acrylic to the magnet with a couple dabs of silicone and the float moves much more of it's own accord. The 2.2 glass is only .2" thick.

Just an update. It's keeping a more stable and smaller variance in water level than it possibly ever has. Thanks for the fix. It might be worth tossing something in the next revision of instructions.

A revised magnet holder for all products is due in the fall and it will address these issues with clear size differences between products and a new design.

It will just be a new pair of magnets so they should be available, I don't have any details yet other than that they are smaller, they will probably show them at Interzoo and they will be available around November.
