Nano DOC in sump?

can the Nano DOC skimmer be used in a sump, or does it have to place in the tank itself?

im setting up a 30g w/ sump and am looking for a skimmer that'll fit . . .

It will work but the water level in the sump would have to be constant at about 8" and with low turbulence.

Roger, you have any info on the skimmer beyond whats in the product descriptions on the tunze website? I'm curious how loud the skimmer is. I haven't gotten much info on anybody's PERSONAL experience with this thing.

I hooked up the prototype I was sent and it was very quiet, i don't think you could find anything quieter in the size/price range. I saw your thread but figured you wanted an opinion from someone else. Keep in mind the first ones just came in a couple weeks ago and unfortunately many were damaged in shipping and I have been getting those taken care of so you will probably be better able to get feedback in a couple weeks.
