Nano DOC Skimmer

Well the skimmer just came in today, and its SOOOOOO close to fitting. The collection cup is like 1/2" too wide in diameter to come out through the top flap in the 29BC. Do any of your other skimmers use a slightly smaller diameter cup by any chance, or am I stuck till this new cup comes out ?? I may have to do some slight trimming of the back trin pieces too depending on my 2nd chamber water level because of the cup diameter. Id rather not do it, but we will see. I was really hoping this would've fit perfectly.... I didnt want to go with one of these cheesy cheap skimmers everyones been throwing into their tanks.

No problem, I got the 9002 to work.... just had to do some slight "clearancing" to the tank. Look in the "nano" forum to see the pics if youre interested, then you can tell possible buyers that itll fit with a little work. :)

I used a Dremel rotary tool on the center filter chamber of my Oceanic 29g nano reef (just as I've seen done somewhere in these forums)...it's a tight fit, and the cup cannot be removed without removing the entire hood. That's not a big deal, but this new cup, whenever Tunze makes it available, will solve that problem! But, if the 9002 will fit in your tank/filter chamber, I recommend it!

Roger,

I understand this new cup is 6-12 months away. But, do you know what the process will be for obtaining one for those of us who have already bought the 9002? Will it be made available to us free of charge, or, if not free, approximately how much will it cost? Thanks.

We are not sure yet, it will likely be an optional accessory for those who need it and the skimmer will continue to come with a cup of full volume as probably the majority still want the larger volume cup. I doubt it will be expensive, the existing cup is only $12 to replace so figure it would cost less than that.

It can be removed without removing the hood, you just need to clearance the hood abit in the back with the dremel with the sanding drum attachment..... mine goes in and out of my BC29 with ZERO problems....

Great product Roger.... cant wait to order the 6025 nanostream... :D

I still can't attest to the actual size, or if it will for sure fit in the back compartment... but I think you would have better luck ordering that tank with the refugium option, not the wet/dry option... would likely give you more water depth to work with, as I'm fairly certain the 3-4 inches would not be enough...

Cool tanks though! Thanks for the link! :D

No, all product development is on hold until we get our existing product production up to par.

It is not going to happen for a while. I am sorry but we just have too much going on right now to tackle this project.
