Okay I already set up my 14gal. and the filtration is set up like a normal one the way I bought it, Carbon filter, Bio-balls and mechanical filter before going into pump! I was wondering how others had theres setup and was wondering why some put live rock instead of Bio-balls do they not perform the same task? and should I be using the Carbon filter it came with?

In SW bioballs do not perform as well as live rock/rubble. Replace or remove them if you can. Clean your mechianical often also.

The filtration on my nano consists of live rock. Since I am not running a skimmer on the nano, I do water changes more frequently. Like 10% every couple of weeks. Of course this is going to depend upon the bioload in your particular tank. But I don't use all the crazy mechincal and chemical filtration on my tanks. Thats just me though.
