Nano Fission Observations

Yesterday i recieved mine from Marine Depot. That place is a pleasure to work with.

Ok so i opened it up and used a couple choice words because of the side of this thing. I mean wow its tiny.....I read the size but it didnt process. Anywho

I put it in last night and low and behold it didnt work. I had to tinker with the level of the skimmer in the water. Finally got the level right and cut tubing down to help ease the pump with sucking up air.

It works, i have it currently set on making a less watery skimmate because i want to make sure it works. One problem i have so far is an unusual ammount of micro bubbles.

I am going to tinker with it tonight to see if i can reduce it by placing a foam ring around the outside slats. Anyone with suggestions let me know?

Mine have been running for couple of weeks now. As the inside bubble reducer ring thing that was included gets dirty the micro bubbles reduce to a point. The natural water level fluctuations due to evap/topoff throw the skimmer off constantly.
Mine are mounted in the front so I can tweak it for now.

Next move is to mount the skimmer in the back compartment in the Acu Pod and drill a hole so a skimmer drain tube can be installed. I plan to contact Current USA first to see if they have done similar or get advise first.

What type of tank are you running it in?

Go to nano-reef.com and search of fission skimmer, you'll get the idea. You basically wasted your money on that skimmer. No one was able to figured out how to use it properly.

Mine is in a 5.5 Gallon

MJ Delphin tank. So far i have been have some micro bubbles but i left it running this morning and ill find out when i get home from work... i might make a bubble ring to fit around the outside of the skimmer. Made from an aquaclear sponge filter.

Got it to work

Got it to work

I got it working... I only run it at night and when im home. I dont want to look at the bubbles and my new clowns made it their home....

I've had this skimmer for about a month now, and I came accross this thread while looking for info on it after a huge problem with mine today. My "bubble diffuser" got clogged (I suppose, but it really doesn't look it) and the skimmer started forcing water into my collection cup and overflowed a 32oz container I had under the drain. That tripped my GFCI and my tank went w/o electricity from 11am-6pm today.

I'd thought the 32oz cup would have been plenty after seeing only a few oz of skimmed product every few days. I did a big water change and changed the foam diffuser in the skimmer a few days ago. It's in a sump with a constant water level here. I really don't understand this little thing, and I'm having second thoughts about keeping it and running it at all.

Your thread was the only one that I could pull up with a search. Google said trying to see more than the first 12 results looked like a virus performing automated requests so I'm stuck.
