heres the story.! this lil skimmer is said by others to be crude.. but i got it anyways( hey it was 29 bucks ... didnt seem that bigg of a deal when you just got a 300 somthing doller tunze skimmer for my 130)

anways! the thing works. it pulls out dark sludge but heres the big problom
heat
this has got to the the crappiest pump iv ever seen! while i never took a real temp i just touched the water
befor i had hte skimmer the water was actualy on the cold side. after i added hte skimmer the water was actualy warm ( i woulda taken a bath in it)
remember i have no fish at this time

1 week later i have the worst algae outbreak iv ever seen
i add a blue danmsal to the tnak at this time( now the tank is having a food input of about 2 pellets aday)
well same day i decide to pull the plug on the skimmer.
2 days later the rocks are alot cleaner and the water is actualy back to where it was tempwise
i know some will ask " did you check temp same time of day"
yes right befor i turn off the lights on the tank ( 10 - 12 hours)

anyways i think ill run the skimmer for 2 hours every night.
this skimmer would work great tho for a bigger tank. mine was only 12 gallons

did you read the post.... the skimmer caused heat and that can aid algae growth

i love it when people post after just reading the title of a thread ^^

anyways i would like to see your explination on why the tank has alot less algae after skimmer was unpluged and it cooled down.

First off, I did read your post. Everyone else who I have talked to who has this skimmer has never said anything about it causing heat. It could just be the pump you have. The skimmer wouldn't cause the algae. The pump, yes, could be.

the pump is included inthe box with the skimemr there for it is part of the skimmer

anyways. it may be a defective pump but once i find my temp probe ill tell ya exactly how much hotter it is

the people you talked to did htey have it in a 12 gallon with closed top

im thinking of usuing the pump from another aquapod since they dont seem to heat the water much

its the skimmers pump that maked heat. not 100 percent sure why heat seems to help algae but.. it does. maybe i sohuld of said ' my skimmers pump runs to hot and causes algae'
