Nano gobies in large tanks

Hey all,

I'm moving up to a 180. Right now I have a ORA nano tiger goby in my 90 who is definitely going in to the 180. He's a hair over 1", if that. Despite his size, I see him all the time in my 90. However, I recently got some type of trimma/evoita as well. When he came in he was literally 1/2" max, I mean the tiger goby looked huge compared to him. He's been in a 10g QT for a number of weeks now, and he's growing out a bit, but he's still tiny. I'm second guessing putting him in the 180. Will I ever see him? Sometimes I can't even find him in the 10g QT! I've got a 29g I could put him in. But part of my attraction to saltwater is all the cryptic little creatures and diversity. So I'd like to have him in the 180, as long as he'll be seen sometimes.

So who else has small gobies (1" max) in large tanks?

i have 4 eviota's in my 340, and I see them all the time !!!!!

My tank is very lightly stocked though.
Cool litle fish....and yes.......they ARE small!

I keep my pair of ORA tiger gobies in a 34, but I just had to say that I love them. Cute little things--they pack a lot of personality into a tiny package. :)

I've seen diving videos with Eviota gobies perching on gorgonians and branching corals, so maybe yours will take to hanging out there?

pics of your new gobies and the tiger gobies? always wanted those little guys but afraid one of my fish would pick at them.. do you think theyd be safe in a 120g with a bunch of fairy wrasse and leopard wrasse?

Well, I've got some bad news...

Upgraded to the 180 saturday before last. Transferred over a nano tiger goby who had been happily living in my 90 for about a year, and a evoita who had been in QT for at least a month. The nano tiger goby was out and about acting completely normal for the first few days. Then I didnt see him for a few days. Then on monday I found him dead :(

I havent seen the evoita since putting him in...

So far my experience with small gobies in large tanks isnt good. I might just buy a marine betta...

Sorry about your lost. I haven't had any luck with Clown or Neon gobies in my 180g.

I've a Marine Betta that took 3 months to eat pellets and didn't see much of it the past 10.5 months other than poking the head out during feeding time. This past couple of days it started to come out at night. I'm nervous about this because it hasn't come out this much before.

I have a neon cleaner goby in my 240. It has been there for a few months now and cleans any fish willing to let it climb on. It also eats fairly large mysis.

However, from what I can gather from Michael Scott's presentation at RAP this year, nano gobies tend to get eaten in large tanks with larger fish.
