I have a 5.5g All Glass Tank, you can get it at just about any LFS, Great size and fits just about anywhere....
I have and had this size of tanks - no problems, easy care.
Glass is definitely better.
- 5-6g acrylic hexagon tank, great shape for a water flow, but couldn't be cleaned without disassembling the tank,
- 6g Nano-Cube from E-Bay for $59-69, glass - is amazing for macro photography, the shape is excellent for water flow too,
- 5g rectangular tank for $10 - worst from them for a flow. Or may be it just me.
You see, the flow in the tanks of near equal height and width (hexagon, cube, cylinder, sphere - doesn't matter, apart from it's impossible to place HOB power filter on the wall of the round tank) the flow rotated as in washing machine - from top to bottom (or from side to side), reflects from the sidewall and washes sides of the central LR structure with it's inhabitants. And you can observe it from different sides on equal depth - more controllable environment.
You can see the already set tanks, and make your choice: Idol nano thread, the same aquascaping and hardware can be used, as for 7g mini-bow, more of 7g MB in details, and, sorry for the general reference, a lot of particular tanks through 5g web search.
