nano pros will this 10 gal setup work?

I shoulda asked this question 3 weeks ago before I set up the tank but i just found this board today. My goal is a reef tank with mostly polyps and shrooms with a few lps and leathers. I hope I have enough light and circulation. Hopefully u can help me out. 10 gal All Glass w/glass canopy. 20" Current 40w 1 lamp smartpaq 24 hour lighting w/lunar. Cascade 100 power filter on back. Current Fission nano skimmer set on high inside. No uv sterilizer. 10lbs Tonga lr and 10 lbs ls. I wanted to go with a millenium 3000 filled with live rock frags but the guy at pet store said id have too much flow for a 10 gal. So, what do u think? Do I need more lights? How about adding a power head? Is a mill.3000 too much filter?

I've got a 3000 on my 46g. There's a dial that you can turn down the flow if you want. Just thought I'd let you know.

It says 295gph. Just wanted you to know that the 3000 is 14.5" wide. If you wanted a HOB filter, and like the Millennium series, maybe get a 2000.

Also, I wouldn't count on it for much flow inside the tank. It does a good job of surface agitation though. I would definitely add a powerhead or two. I've got two MJ1200's in my 46g, and I actually need more.

I may try a mil 3000 and turn it down to lowest flow setting. I want to fill it up with live rock frags and calurpa. So it's 14.5" long, how wide is it?????

I'll have to check when I get home, but I think it's around 4-5". At least, that's how far my tanks sits from the wall. I'll check for sure tonight.

seaduck- why not just buy an Aqua Clear 70 or 110. Alot of people have really goog mods for them in this forum. Check it out. I'd say that would eb the best filter for a 10g.

The guys at my local pet shop recommended Aqua clear filters cause they have better bio filters. I will check em out. Is there a search funtion I can use on this forum or do i need to look back over the threads to find the mods ur talking about?

Here's the thread that turns a AC 70 into a fuge. I have a 10 with an AC 50 on it and it's far from being to much flow. The Mil. wouldn't be to much but if you were trying to decide between that and an Aqua Clear, I'd say get an Aqua Clear too!

That was exactly the same thread I used for some of my AC70 Mods. It was probably one of the most imformative ones yet about the AC filters. I have a 10g with a AC 70. It puts in the perfect amount of flow for me at least. I could do more but my sand is very very fine and if i put more flow through it, it would probably be blowing aroung the tank constantly. What i have in the Ac is half of the plastic crate with a carbon filter pad and about a pound of LR. What I would like to do in the future is to put some sand and some Cheatow/ a little light to get more biological filtration. But yea if you are loooking for a filter, you should either go with an AC50 or 70.

So did u guys do the ac 20 impeller mod or r u still using the ac 70 impeller? Thanks a lot for the thread as it is exactly what i am looking for. Does anyone know if a ac 120 will fit on the back of a 10 gal?

i would get the corallofe 96watt powequad for that tank, or get the viper 70watt mh
