Nano Reefpack- Skimmer and Cleaner can be separated?

I have a question, I'm getting the nano reefpack and might have to separate the two pieces (skimmer and cleaner) from each other to fit. Do they have to be run as one unit? Or can I split them up?

They can be seperated but you would need additional mounting hardware as they share a magnet holder.
