Nano Rock Beware

I wanted to post this here to make sure no one else wastes their money as I did. I posted this in vendor forum but not sure if everyone reads those. Ordered some rock from MD this week, was ad posted on their home page for live Fiji nano rock. States on their site sizes range from 3-11 inches and sounded like a good deal for a 11# box. I am starting a 30G Oceanic cube so I ordered 2 boxes and paid extra for overnighted. Well did get total of 22#-got 2 small nano sized rocks about 4 inches each and 1 huge boulder 18x22 inches. The 2 small rocks were very porous and great looking Fiji-light weight and fragile. The big rock was very heavy/solid. Husband and I tried busting it up with hammer/chisel but unable to break. Finally used a pheumatic drill press to break into 5 chunks-will not be using any of these in tank as they are solid marble in appearance and will only break into sharp planes surface. Not the look I want in my tank. I did call MD and complain. Was offered a $15 store credit or could return rock at my expense. Needless to say very disappointed with whole experence and had to order more nano rock from another online site. Should get this rock tomorrow and will post results.

Just out of curiousity - was the rock they overnighted to you damp at all or covered in wet papers of any sort?

Mine did the exact same thing when I tried to break it. Looks like littler black streaks. I will NEVER break up LR ever again.

I used to know somebody who used to work for seacrop (dotcom). He says that their "refugirocks" are quite good and finding decent hitchhikers is not uncommon. The price is really cheap and available in small quantities, too. Definately worth it if you dont need much.
When I get my tank straightened out, I plan on ordering from there soon.
