Nano Skimmer

I put the Tunze Nano skimmer on my 56 all in one. I put it in my overflow chamber and it worked well for about a week. It stopped working so I pulled it out and checked the pump. It was clean and after putting it back together and testing it, it worked again for a day or two. Repeat. Repeat again. Tonight when I pulled it out, the bottom cover had come off and is now sitting out of reach at the bottom of my overflow chamber. What a waste of money for a small pump and and a cheesy plastic box.

Tearing it up to clean just a few days in between, you really haven't let get stable yet. Wait a few day after cleaning then start making your air adjustments. They are also very touching to putting your hands in the tank any disturbance to the water column and feeding so you just need to keep changes to the enviromnent to a minimum.

I'm not jumping for joy over the performance but doesn't sound like you have given a chance yet and may be jumping the gun.

do you have it installed in an area where the water level is stable and does not vary with evaporation ?

My main complaint ( which I'm sure is common ) is those brackets. I wish a magnet option was available like the larger DOC skimmers.

Maybe I wasn't clear. The pump is clean, just not working. After I take it apart and put it back together it works again-sometimes.

Initially it did take a few days for it to break in, but that's to be expected. It's also in an overflow chamber that maintains perfect water level due to an ATO.

If there is something physically wrong with the pump and not just how it is reseated after cleaning then that's a Roger question for return/inspection.
