verty nice tank man..i usually hate BB's but i really love how you combined the BB look with the SPS based aquarium:)

I noticed that the ones posted that look amazing have intensive lighting , most people would say its overkill but the result are amazing. I am about to set up a 20 gallon shallow tank for sps and debating on getting a 250w pendant t5/mh combo

sure you can do that, prolly have hanging fixture so you can raise/lower for intensity...grow SPS anywhere in that tank :bum:

something like 35 gallon. Just want to share.

More pics. Enjoy!
FYI: This tank has been upgraded from MH150 to MH250 and finally MH400W. Very happy with the result.

I did not like the options I had for the BioCube29. I am doing strictly SPS with a few fish. Having tried the current Sundial 150watt I was not happy.

Current Sundial:

I found that the wattage was enough to keep the coral alive but it did not color up very much. I tried several HQI double ended bulbs. Then I decided to build my own canopy, using the nice cables supplied by current for the sundial. These cables enable me to easily move the canopy up and down like you suggested. And they are very thin. In my canopy I tried a couple of SE bulbs and two different ballasts. Until I decided on the Radium 20k 250watt bulb with the PFO 250HQI ballast. For actinic lighting I went with Power compacts (reluctantly, I wanted T5s) for actinic lighting. All my SPS colored up in a short time into some very colorful frags.

Here is what my canopy looks like:

chingchai,
Beautiful! and 400 watts over that baby! WOW that's awesome! what light fixture are you using?

Thanks.
It is Giesemann Spectra 400w 14.5k + T5 pure actinic 24Wx2 + T5 blue24Wx2.

Thanks Gmatt I was actually going to get a sundial but the 250watt pendant

Right now I have a viper 150watt over my softie tank and I am hating the results.... I had a 175watt retro fit kit over my 20 with sps the results where ok color was ok but nothing was growing fast either. This is what is making me lean toward more wattage

I will have my bf make something to hang it for me I will make sure I show him what you did. I might pm you later if I have questions
:D
