Nano Stream 6025 question...

hi Roger, i just got 2 of the 6025's with the black impeller... one of the pump starts up fine, but the other, the impeller just keeps bouncing back and forth... i had to raise it to the surface of the water to get it to start... once it's started, and i unplug it, when i plug it back in, it would not start again... i was wondering if the pump just needs to break in and will it get better in time...?

This could have two causes, the first thing to check is if there is excess vaseline on the shaft, they do a factory test and use vaseline to coat the moving parts for the test run. Two much will cause this. Does one drive unit look any different from the other? The other possibility is one is broken.

after some fiddling around with the pump, i noticed that the free spin of the propeller itself against the plastic shaft (before it hits the stop) is a little tight on the magnets with the black plastic as compared to the magnets with the white plastic... i removed the propeller and opened the gap a tiny bit to reduce the friction and it seems to have solved the problem...

i was wondering if you can confirm that this free play is important to the startup especially with the smaller motor of the 6025...

It is critical, it sounds like you got a 6055 drive unit in a 6025 pump, to be on the safe side I will send a replacement, PM me your address.

hi Roger, with the black drive unit, there are different versions of it for the AC and DC motors...? what is the difference...?

we've had a few electrical fluctuations due to rain a few times last week... every single time, the pump failed to start on it's own... i removed the white propeller and noticed the black plastic shaft has some rough plastics around it... i took a knife and sand paper and smoothed it out... the propeller is now spinning easier (against the pastic shaft) than before... i did it this morning and has tested it a few times throughout the day... now the pump turns on by itself... it doesn't seem to strain anymore when starting up...

The 6055.70 (US version) drive unit has a very slightly larger propeller, the prop has a tight fit on the shaft. The 6025.70 (US version) has a smaller prop and the prop has a loose fit enabling the magnet to start without engaging the prop until it is spinning.
