nano wavebox and photocell?

I've been using the nano wavebox for 6 months now and i like it a lot and it is set on fast pulse. Today i decide to connect the photocell for night mode and the wavebox started to go really slow, the green light flash really slow it take about a good 30 second to turn on and off, is that normal? Does the photocell need to be mounted outside where there is light or can it be mount it inside the sump by the refugium light? I try both and it is the same way.

It sounds like the pump is dirty and it is just a coincidence that the photocell was connected. Take out the pump and clean the drive unit and motor and pay special attention to the hole in the drive unit that spins on the shaft. Calcium build up here will cause exactly what you describe. Use vinegar and a pipe cleaner.
