Nanocube 28 gallon refugium

I am wanting to add a HOB refugium to my nanocube 28 gallon tank. I am looking at the model listed below for BRS. I was just curious if anyone has used a similar setup on their tank before. I am mainly wanting it for nutrient export and a source of pods for the tank. I would like to get a mandarin if I can get a good pod population, but I will have to see what kind of pod growth I can get before I add the mandarin. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any reason why you don't want to just transform chamber II in the back into a five? I'm in the beginning process of doing that right now

I had thought about it, but I did not know if it would be large enough for a fuge or not. I also have my heater in that compartment so I would have to move it.

believe it or not I was studying the same subject today as I want to get some copepods going etc..but I decided I dont need a fuge for a 25 gallon lagoon tank that I will be setting up... Water changes will easily export nutrients
and if I want copes that bad I can set up a seperate small tank so that I
do not destroy the look of what i am hoping will be a pristine Lagoon 25 set up.

I was thinking hang a small fuge on the side of the tank as I dont have space at the back....decided no way.

I really like the look of those 25 gallon lagoon tanks. I am hoping I can get the fuge to fit on the back of my tank, because I am still running the factory hood with and LED retrofit kit in it and HOB is my only option.

go for it

go for it

Go for it...the refugium will help your system ...and because those feed into tank via GRAVITY instead of a return pump once the water in them...it wont kill the copepods sucking them through a pump ...I wish I had the space behind my tank to put a hang on fuge but there is zero space anywhere..jusssst enough room on desk for the tank. I will just grow pods seperate and dump them in once a month or something.

Good luck with your hang on fuge...that one by cpr is not cheap but they are worth the money once you get them up and running....

If you look up the stats on how many pods a mandarin eats a day you will realize you will need an absolutely AMAZING Amount in that small square footage of tank as he will eat them so fast you cannot believe it..they absolutely NEVER STOP HUNTING OR EATING...so...do the math....
You are going to have to supplement more then what your fuge will do to
keep one alive in that small tank is my guess.

I figured I would have to supplement the pods because I did not think my tank would produce enough, but it should help so that I don't have to buy as many pods.

yep

yep

yep it will definitely help!
Good luck

mandarins are gorrrgeous fish..in my opinion the nicest fish you can buy for the money!
