Like the new stand and canopy. Cant wait to see the sump. Are you making it from scratch or using a tank w/baffles?

OT: Those gliders are cool. Let's see them glide:D . You seem to be getting a few hits up there:rolleye1: Chill out guys:cool:

Thanks :) Undecided at this point, have a 29 we were going to use but now with the nicer stand may build one.

See below for gliding photo :)

It's funny that you just started one build, abandoned it to upgrade, and now started another build thread...

Well, the 54 was MY tank and mine only to do what i want for my eels. But then I was offered a very rare and expensive sugar glider that I just had to have :) So I am selling and breaking down that tank to focus on the gliders.

The 75 is really my bf's (clown-x) but we're buidling it together. We are basically combining his tank and mine into one 75. He let me keep my eel in there even though it's a bad idea so I'm lucky I can still keep him and get my glider. Life is good.

Besides, new tanks are fun!

GSMguy: Thank you :)

joeyjoeq: Here are some gliding photos for you.

what is that animal? A flying squirel  thats cool.

Question- Does the canopy have fans built into it? That is one thing that I would want for sure. If not, build it into it now while there is no water inside it is what id do. Fans really help with the temperature problems you may encounter. Some say better than an expensive chiller. Another thing I would put in the canopy now is a moon light. Just makes life a little easyer. You know> :)

Thats a Suger Glider, i should have went with the modern stand from aga like you, now i regret it :( mine is the one you first bought (cept for a 90gal) I think the one you have is made better, is that real wood?

i say we boycott this thread untill we get some mermaid shots... jk...

personally i'm not into rats, but i looove dogs. here's mine

Nope, no fans yet. We'll have to add all of that in. I agree, fans are a must with our setup. Yet another project :) Thanks.

Aww.. don't be sad. We liked the original one, we just liked this one better and liked the idea of the canopy. I believe it's real wood with some type of coating on it that makes it "slippery" for a lack of better word. The old style AGA stands did not have this protection and was very hard to get the creep and all off. With this type of wood/coating everything is supposed to wipe right off.

Kigs: Sugar gliders are not rodents, they are small marsupials and they have a pouch like a kangaroo does.

Beautiful dog :)

Got my phoenix 14k bulbs today from Marine Depot. Wow. It's blue lol. I like it, can't wait to see it on the 75. Much different then my coralife 14k bulbs.

I used to have a yellow and black stripped suger glider cool creature but unfortunatly he pee'd all over the walls and it smelled so bad so i donated him to our local zoo, he was there last year but i think he got transfered recently.

nice tank to stay on topic :)

Gliders, I have always wanted to get a pair. I never realized that they are
so much fun.

I had an idea for a cage where you don't run the branches across the cage
like they do in a bird cage, but you cut a big branch and then run
it from the ground up,
that way they have their own tree.
You could even take those fake vines that they have for lizards and wrap the branch
to make it more tree like.
Also would moonglow lights like we have on our reefs make a good ( moon for them to hunt and see at night? )

Just a thought?

Also do you have pics of your cage?

Whoa those things look like bats. That's freakin cool how they glide. What do you feed them? Well anyways back to the tank. Those 14k bulbs you have are a good comparison to the radium 20k. We need some pictures!:D

People do use fake trees for playpens or even large cages. They go crazy tearing apart the leaves. They run up the cage bars as well like a tree. They cannot be housed in glass tanks, they must be housed in 1/2" spacing or less bars. Larger the cage the better and they must be housed in groups of two or more.

I use plastic vines in all of my cages wrapped around a spiral across their sticks. They love to play and gives the impression of the tree tops where they live in the wild. I would not use any lights for them in their cage. They are extremely sensitive to light and the bright led pinpoint light may hurt their eyes.

What I do is use a nighttime red or blue bulb fixture in the room which lights up everything for me to see well but leaves the cages shaded enough so they are happy. They will not normally come out during daylight or when a regular light is on during the night.

They eat fresh fruit and veggies, mealworms, baked chicken, boiled or scrambled eggs, yogurt, rasins, cornflakes :)

Yea, I'm liking the Phoenix bulbs. Much better coloration on my corals already, though I think they are still adjusting. Will snap some of them tomorrow if they open up nice.
