Sump Pump Update!
Okay, after thinking it over with everyones help, I have decided to go with a Mag 5 pump for my return. But this causes another problem. The nozzle on this pump is 1/2" and the nozzle on my return bulkhead is 3/4".
I guess I need an adapter? Would this work:

Nanogurl those mag pumps are loud. Ever consider the Eheim pumps? They are much more silent and very reliable. Getting a pump that has a higher GPH rating would be best to get more water flowing in the sump.

There is no need to "get more water flowing in the sump." Why would you need flow in that section? The water needs to be skimmed (contact time is important), and microbubbles have time to rise and pop.
Eheims are better pumps, reputation-wise. But you only need enough to get the water back up to the tank while still maintaining enough flow to assure the overflow won't lose siphon. In this case, the tank is drilled so that issue isn't even an issue.

I would get at least a mag 9.5 a mag 5 won't put out much after head loss.
If you're going from the 1/2 outlet on the mag 5 to the threaded fitting on your return plumbing you'll need this:

The Mag 5 will be fine. You can buy bushings at Home Depot that ramp it up to a larger size.
I would put a bushing on the pump, then a union, then the plumbing up to the bulkhead. As far as I'm concerned, you could even use 3/4" thinwall (used in sprinkler systems) to get the most flow out of your pump. Everything you need is in the plumbing section at Home Depot.

I agree. You'll have plenty of supplimental flow from your Tunzes in the display. But you already knew that.![]()

less flow also means less noise and microbubbles from your drain. i've own both a mag 7 and a eheim 1260, both are very quite. i can barely hear the noise from either one.
but if your spending your boyfriend's money then go with the eheim...
