Its taken 2 days, but ive read through 16 pages of this thread lol. Your tank is looking really good and I have learned alot, as I am setting up a 75 gallon also. Couple questions though....do you totally submerge your ehiem jager heater, or go just up to the water line? Also, have you not considered Vho's instead of t5's for supplemental lighting? I hear that they have better color/super actinics for the coral

Yea, the Jager I have is now rated to be submerged. I didn't consider VHO's, though I've had them before on a 90g. I believe that people are probably correct that VHO actinics pop more then anything else there.. it's a very distinct look. They are too big and give off to much heat for me.

I was looking at T5's mainly bc small size and reported good growth using them. That and I like new things :) They are super bright too. After having my lighting setup for awhile now, I will probably just stick with the two MH's unless the corals don't do well under them. Have to wait and find out.

Nice Job! The tank looks good. Are you having any heat issues at all w/ the two HQI's?

Thanks!

No more then normal so far, however I don't have the top closed yet and I'm still using my old HQI mounts. I'm really concerned that if I order my new ones and drop it even closer to the water I will have more problems.

I have not installed fans yet which is next on my list.

for some reason i like it better without the canopy? looks more balanced, and the lighting seems to look better.

honestly I am not a big fan of canopies on small tanks especially when it gives the tank sort of being sandwiched-type-of-feeling. Ever think about a shelf on top of the tank and maybe do some cool designs like you do to your gliders cages? those are the ultimate designs that I've never seen for any type of small animals...its crazy. But maybe you can have a fixture on it and cover it up with the design....:P

Yea, I like the look of it without the canopy too.. but for this tank we wanted something different and it also helps with keeping my eel in. Not that I think he'll get out, but it's always nice to have something there.

The lighting looks the same either way. It's just my bad photos :) I'll take some updated ones tonight.

lol.. thanks :P No, I haven't thought about that. We like the canopy for this setup so it's staying.. but I do agree with you. I'm not a big fan of canopies either on any sized tank. I won't do one on our 120 for sure.
