if your using a 100 gpd membrane the rejection rate on this size filter is only about 90 % compaired to 75 gallons and less membranes which are over 98% rejection rate. this could be one of your problems with that high of tds. if your on decent city water using three prefilters, a membrane and dionized filtration your tds should easily be 0.

My RO/DI.

you don't need that last carbon stage that sits on top of your DI. it's an optional stage for drinking water. your DI resin looks like it needs to be changed. do you know when was the last time the prefilters was changed?

2ppm is way too high if your tap water is at 115ppm. i would change all the filters except for the RO membrane and see if that brings everything down to 0 if not then you RO membrane might be finished.

Hi NanoGurl (aka NG :D ), may I ask where you get your corals from? They all look very nice, I really like the sun coral.

Looking forward to seeing the final placement of all your corals.

I've said it before but needs to be said again...Great job.

Thanks :)

I get stuff from all over. The Sun Coral and open brain came from Extreme Corals. Some of my zoas and mushrooms came from Fraggle Reef. And the ricordeas came from a LFS.

I like the sun coral a lot too. It's a lot of fun to feed it and it gives the tank a lot of color in the evening. It actually came in one big piece for $80. I broke the rock in half and sold it to someone else.. to many mouths to feed! I kept one section and a tiny little cute frag of only a couple of mouths.

Love your tank, pets, and the whole story, NanoGurl! What kind of paint did you use on the back of your tank, and why, if you don't mind...

Thanks! And welcome to RC!

I used Krylon spray paint we got from Wal*Mart. I chose black bc I think it pops corals much nicer then blue does. Most people paint the back of their tanks. It helps hide the cords and other things from view, as well as giving it a very nice apperance from the front side.

Thanks! I think it was high bc all of the filters are older. I didn't set this system up, someone else did a few years ago and I never learned how to use it. It sat dormant for a long time. I finally found the correct filters I need to order so I am going to do that this week. I went ahead and changed the parts that were in storage and it brought it down to 1.8ppm. I am hoping with the other filters it will go down farther.

Thanks. I do not know when the fitlers were last changed. What I did the other night was change the one carbon filter, and changed the resin. I took it all out and replaced it. That took it down from around 15ppm to 1.8ppm. I still need to replace the other two filter pads, and then as you say maybe the membrane. Hopefully that will fix everything. I'll update once i know.

Well, after two days of hiding my Scopas Tang decided to come out and have a look around. I couldn't get too much closer for the photo or she would go back behind the rock work.

Sorry for the bad photo.

Cool shot of Oreo hanging out in the mushroom garden.

scopy the scopas what a beauty :)

glad you went with that tang they are my fav of the small affodable tang . they are like a gem tang with a flare.

Thanks everyone :)

Here is another photo I took of my frogspawns. When I got them they were tiny. They have trippled in size at least since I've had them. They are actually a Frogspawn x Hammer spawn.

Hey NanoGurl, were your Sun coral's polyps out when you got them, or did it take them a while to get used to your tank? I've been wanting to get a small bunch, but every time I see them locally, they are withdrawn...???

I was also wondering if they are still doing pretty well?
