Let me know how those MH affect your tanks temperature too. Thats one thing I am afraid of - I do NOT want to buy a chiller.

;) The "R" to the "C" ---officially been pimped!

The light frame looks great and I hope that your corals colour back up soon. Great job!

I know what you mean about your dog. I spent about an hour today brushing out the winter undercoat from my two Black Lab/Husky mixes. When I was finished, it looked like a dog had exploded in my backyard!:eek1:

Thanks :)

lol.. i'm sure! After I give my dog a bath I think he loses about 10 pounds in fur.

I think that mainly depends again on your canopy, light setup and your room temps. If your tank room gets hot during summer or even winter, you might need a chiller. My temps have been great so far with the MH.

I agree, I don't want to buy a chiller either.

Live Aquaria Update!

Okay, sorry everyone for taking so long to update this. I placed an order this week from Live Aquaria for some stuff. I had ordered my zebra eel from them previously from the Divers Den section and was very happy with the quality of what I got.

So we decided to order again! We ordered a Purple Firefish, Fire Shrimp, some blue legs and a baby PBT. They all arrived via FedEx on Friday and everyone looked pretty good. The PBT had some scrapes which I wasn't real impressed with, but other then that things looked good enough.

Package arrives! The stuff on the carpet is algae from a LR. I cleaned it up :P

Everything was packaged very well.

Here is the purple firefish. This is the only time I've seen it lol. It's been hiding since it went into the tank.
la3.jpg

The PBT and shrimp came in blacked out bags.

The fire shrimp was a beautiful red color. Funny thing, when I opened up the bag to peek at him, I saw two red spots. I thought they sent me two, but upon closer inspection he had just molted!

I see two red spots!

Just a molt!

I bought 3 fish from them and they all died :( I got a pipefish which got sucked into a powerhead. A purple psuedochromis that hid and never came out and i just assume after 2 weeks it was dead. The third fish was a pink banded goby which jumped out. I will say they were very good about giving me store credit. But Im thinking of takeing the Tridacna Clam Pack sale instead of fish this time. Though I really like the clown tangs :) too much good stuff on their site lol

Beautiful, NanoGurl! I like your taste in livestock.

I don't remember exactly what the story was, but you might keep an eye on the Blue Legged Hermits. I believe that they can be a nuissance for corals or something---my LFS won't even carry them in her store anymore. Like I said, I don't remember why this is, but I will ask her when I go up there today.

I love Firefish. One of my cyber reef buddies, Dtking, has a Purple Firefish pair:

"The other thing is that, your like Wilson from Home Improvement. We never really see your face in all the pictures of you working on the tank, your face is never in view."

So true, but you know why she does this ???

All of the single guys would want to steal her away from her boyfriend. They think .......Hmmm... A nice woman who looks good and is into reefing.... I'd like to go out with her
:p
I just had to laugh at that  i think anyone here would go with 'a hot reefer' i know i would :eek1: (if she was single of course) or worked at the lfs (discount anyone :D.)

Aww.. sorry to hear about your stuff. The clam pack would be cool, but I always kill clams :( They were good about it too when we had a problem with the lights we ordered. Very happy with their CS which is why we went back.

Though we did have some problems with the PBT which I'll update tonight. I didn't get a chance last night RC cut me off.

Awww.. those are beautiful :) Wish I could see mine lol.

Yea, thanks for the heads up. I've heard that they can knock corals over, and that they will eat your snails to take their shells. Other then that, I've not heard anything else bad about them.

Anyone else know? What would be the alternative? I have to have crabs in the tank to eat the leftover food from my eel and such.

i have scarlets, which are eating machines. Plus, they arent aggressive towards my snails and don't get big enough to topple corals. Throw in some empty shells and you are golden.

Cool, thanks. I'll check them out and get some.

PBT Update!

Okay, sorry it took so long to post an update on our PBT. We got him from Live Aquaria and he came in pretty but with some scarring on his nose. We were a bit unhappy about that and let LA know. They said to keep an eye on it and let them know at the end of the 14 day guarantee, so we'll see what happens.

Otherwise he's doing great. His name is Ocean and he's about 3" long. We requested a small one to see how they did in our tank. Our theory is that a smaller PBT not grown up in the ocean will be happier long term and less stressed then an adult taken out of the ocean and forced into a tank. We shall see.

As for the Tang Cops (that did not read through this post) be advised that the PBT will be switched to our 125 or 180 whatever we get next year when our new house is ready. And you know what that means... new thread! woohooo lol.

Our first look at Ocean.

His colors looked really good right out of the bag.

Checking out his new home.

This brain is protected by one bad a$$ PBT!
ocean4.jpg

He's really liking this area.
ocean5.jpg

Here you can see the spots on his nose/face that came in messed up.

Eating a seaweed clip.

He's been a great eater and is all over the tank. He looks very happy and gets along well now with Mouthwash the Scopas tang. They had a few disbutes but everything has been fine today. They swim together a lot. I am hoping this will help with the aggression as he matures.

Right now he's been fed the following with garlic. We are going to place an order online to get an even better variety of foods for him to help give him the best chance of making it. We really love this fish :)

Current Diet:

Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 Flakes
Seaweed Salad
Frozen Brine Shrimp
Frozen Angel Formula 2

Very good choice NG, I am torn between getting a PBT or a brown Naso Tang, they both look so cool.

The way it is eating gives a good indication that it should be just fine.

Nice thread, nice tank, nice photos. :) Has anything been quarantined or do you just put everything straight into the tank?

Thats a real nice PBT im thinking once i eventually setup a 210 im gonna go with one or two acanthurus (sp) tangs and maybe one or 2 zebermousas -still figuring out which ones... however i doubt the two tangs will fight much more since thier different types

Thanks :) I am hoping he does good as well. I know they die often, but I wanted to try it and see what happens at least once.

Yea, the Naso Tangs are awesome too. I also really like the Powder Brown Tangs.
