Sorry, my Akita is a he! His name is Maximus! He is 5yrs old. We got married and honeymooned in maui! As you can see by the pics, we were barefoot when we got married! it was too cool. I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding. In the comments you can see a pic of Max and Bailey, Bailey is my wifes english bulldog. Sorry, I get alittle carried away when talking about my dogs, I love them like crazy!!!

That is too cool! That is exactly what we want to do... get married in Hawaii. Jealous! I am going to have to msg you and bug you for all of the details.

Maximus is a great name! English bulldogs are also great looking dogs =) Always welcome in this thread!

Sugar Glides are my favorite =) They aren't hard to keep, just require certain things. A pair or more is good, they can't be kept by themselves. They are not like keeping a hamster or gerbil. Totally different.

I have another on the way =) More photos in a week so for sure of him!

Fire away anytime! I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have! The pineapple is like you have never tasted and the water is so blue. I had seen tangs on a snuba dive that I have never seen before!

Hey NG, is your fire shrimp shy? Or does it like to be out in the open?

Just wondering, it seems to be hit or miss on weather or not they will show themselves...mine chooses to hide:mad:

Every shrimp that we've had has hidden most of the day. He only comes out when it's feeding time he will run all over the rock work trying to catch food. It's actually really cute when I target feed him he'll shoot up to the top sometimes and grab the food then "parachute/freefall" to the bottom of the tank then tank off running. It was hysterical the first few times we saw it.

He's friendly when the food is around though. He'll take food out of your hands or tongs. He likes to ride Oreo around the tank LoL.

Chads! Hey =)

I'm still here. I was in #RK yesterday in the morning. Clown-x was gone for awhile so we've been busy catching up =)

PM sent back! I hope you gave out that hug I asked you too LoL!

Hey there NanoGurl!

Wow, a lot has happened since the last time I was on. I purchased a boat before my father came and have been doing the fishing thing as well as taking the kids tubing and stuff. Work has been busy and life has been fun to say the least... Well maybe not all fun, but very interesting and exciting I'm thinking to say the least.

You now have tangs, fire shrimp, and a new house.... It looks like you have been very busy as well. Your tank is looking really nice, I am glad you are enjoying it.

You had last asked me if my Eel was doing good. The answer is yes, he is just fine and dandy. He has been out of the tank twice since last we talked. He grabs on to the feeding stick sometimes and just won't let go, then wallah, he is on the floor. Since he is slipper as an Eel, he is hard to get hold of and put back in the tank. I get him back in there pretty quick, so he is just fine. Here is a link to the latest pictures, where I will get one with the Eel in it later tonight.

Wow that's scary! I think I would freak out if my eel got onto the floor. Glad to hear he is okay though! Your tank looks beautiful!

Thanks for the complements =) Welcome back!

Hey NG, can you give me any tips or suggestions on some beginner corals? I really like zoas and softies.

Hey NG, can you give me any tips or suggestions on some beginner corals? I really like zoas and softies.

I like zoas and softies too. SPS are really beautiful and nice, but I don't buy into the belief that you have to have a SPS tank for it to be nice.

As long as your tank is mature enough to be stable and maintain corals, it's really up to you what you like. Zoas are good and easy to care for. There are some amazing colors. I would buy a few small cheap frags and see how they do. If the grow and do well, you could get into the expensive ones if you like unique colors.

Mushrooms are fun too. Some people hate them bc they can grow and spread, but if you get some rare or unique ones they can be really nice. I like the reds, blues, and iridescents a lot. The bright greens are also beautiful.

Ricordeas are beautiful and there are some really exotic ones out there. The basic florida blues are really nice I have several in my tank. They were like $20.

Frogspawns are pretty easy if you get a healthy one and have good water levels. Mine are growing like crazy. Open brains are also very easy to care for. Xenias are simple but I'm not a big fan of those. The pulsating ones are kinda neat though.

Sun corals are easy and beautiful, but require work to feed. I would stay away from SPS and anenomes for awhile.

Hope that helped =)

looks real good. any info on the big tank yet

Thanks! Well, we were thinking about getting a 96" x 18" x 18" tank built to give Ocean a lot of swimming room back and forth. It's not a ton gallon wise, but 8' to swim back and forth seems pretty cool to me if I was a tang! It's really expensive to do that, so I'm not sure yet if we will or not, but that's a def possibility right now.

Thanks for the info, my LFS has an open brain that I have my eye on that I'll probably buy tomarrow. They also have a nice frog spawn, fungia and zoa frag that I'd like to get too!
I would really consider a 24"x24" instead of 18"x18", I know that would be a 240g but the extra depth and height is great when it comes to aquascaping. I couldnt believe how much difference it made when I upgraded from a 90g to a 180g. both were 24" high but the 90g was 18" deep where as the 180g is 24" deep and that made a huge difference. No regrets!
Good luck and thanks!

I also second hulley, and would at a bare min go with the 24" front to back, especially if your thinking 8' tan, just my 2 cents, im just wishing i could even get bigger than my current tank

Awesome! I would probably buy all of those corals too! hehehe.

I agree with you about the 24" width being better for scaping. I do not like the 24" height bc I couldn't even reach the bottom of the tank. I like the "wide angle" view the best. Although I was seriously considering the 120 before we got a tang.

We are also worried about all of the extra humidity/evaporation going up another 100g. I think for us right now that's a bit too much, especially with the quotes we've gotten back already for the 18"!

Thanks though!

Thanks! I agree the 24" is better. I think it's more then what we are looking for with this tank though. Who knows, maybe we will!

What size tank do you have now?
