I couldn't find the lights locally...I ordered a few "melevs" lights, he has done a bit of work on determining the best of them...I'm sure he'll join in the conversation soon. They do quite well in my fuge, and the chaeto is growing like crazy. Good for energy conservation too...

Did you get your Tunze's fixed? Just got mine back...or brand new I guess. Despite a few minor issues (break of shaft, version 1) I love the size of them, not to intrusive.

Thanks! No, I never got it finalized I'll msg the guy right now and see what's up. Congrats on getting yours fixed!

NG,

What do you do to maintain your CA/alk levels? I think I need to strategize and thought I'd ask you. Your tank always looks so healthy. And your cats eat spaghetti.

Nothing! I do regular water changes and I've been lucky. I use Reef Crystals and haven't had any problems with that so far.

I would msg Drummereef or Melev they will know for sure.

NG,

Since you are using RC salt, do you add magnesium to your newly mix saltwater? I find RC salt low on mag....I don't remember the range but I think it was only 1150 ppm. I tested with Elos kit and Salifert. Any feed back certainly be appreciated...thanks in adv.

Hey NanoGurl!

Just wanted to say that I absolutely love looking at the working you are doing... especially what is below the tank. I was wondering if I could trouble you with the inside demensions of your cabinet. I am starting a 75 gallon soon and am in the intense planning phase (as this is my first large scale reef). Love the tank! Keep it going and good luck with the move!

Here you go: 47 1/2" x 18 1/4" x 29 1/2" approximately. HTH's!

Love your Eel! Hes gorgeous! Beautiful tank. I was just thinking about how I could never put my Snowflake in my reef...He eats fish. He has eaten two clowns and a lionfish in my 180G FOWLR. He is well fed every two days (As much as he can eat) but any fish that have been small enough, he eats. He didnt start this until he was about 3 years old I guess. He even bites my Stars and Stripes Puffer who just ignores him (Hes about a foot too big to be eaten). I think it would be so cool though to have an eel in my reef tank...

What do you usually feed him? How big do Zebra Eels get? Im guessing they are a similar size to snowflakes...About 3 feet?

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your eel eating so much. Sounds like you got an aggressive one!

Books and online say zebras can get over 5' but I've never seen anyone that actually has one over 3'. I have been searching to find out. I feed my zebra frozen krill and shrimp.. that's about all he will eat for me.

Wow...5'! Thats pretty big. I know my guy has probably just passed the 3' mark and is quite thick. And yes, I ended up with a very aggressive one, much more aggressive than usual. Today he was lunging at the puffer again, which seems crazy because the puffer is way too big to eat. Im starting to think that this is a territorial thing rather than a hungry thing. Anyways, great tank!

Yea, you may be right about the territorial thing. That sounds more likely for your eel to attack something that big. Goodluck with him!

Sunday Update!

Not too much going on with the tank right now. I am still siphoning out FW's. I read a post where a guy lost 3 fish and most of his corals by using FW Exit.. so I am being paranoid about getting out all that I can find first. Hopefully sometime this week.

My nitrates are high right now even with lots of water changes due to the siphoning. That is frustrating.

Here are a couple of updated photos of Paradox and his gf Jenna from tonight. They have settled right in =)

Awww...so cute! I almost got a pair about 5 years ago now from a local breeder but decided against it as she explained to me how much time they require and how depressed they get if they dont get that time. Still dont feel that with all my fish, reptiles and cats that I have the proper time for sugar gliders...But man I want a pair now!!!
