hey NG great pictures and thread, it took me over 3 full days to read from the very first post u made till now reading the last one in the split, LOL being home sick is great! hehe, im starting a 125 for my computer room... thinking of keeping sps and making it a BB tank but all that will come as it gets closer to me buying the materials. :p . btw grats on the new house hope it works out for ya. and thats a great lookin powder blue, mine died maybe 12 weeks after getting it, dont kno what it was i never saw ich on it at all :rolleyes:
 
NG: I am ready to upgrade from my 55 to either a 75 or a 90. Any thoughts on the 75 regarding space limitations, overflows, etc. I am looking at the Perfecto which has the corner overflow. The AGA tank has an overflow offset from the corner. What brand is your tank? Thanks.

I would worry about getting nailed... if you are feeding this fish by hand and someone happens to walk in or the fish is startled by any other means, you could get envenomated and that my friend is more than a bee sting... I would not hand feed any venomous fish myself, just not worth the risk and does neither you or the fish any good.
 
hey NG which type of RO unit did you get? and how is that ATO unit u got working out for you? im going to have two tanks once i set my new 125 up so im going to try to set up a ATO unit with one large Top Off tank holding two pumps for the seperate tanks. just wondering how yours was working out for ya.

The number of professional photographers that use Canon vs. Nikon are pretty similar so interpret that however you wish. It's a personal decision as to which you feel more comfortable with so whichever floats your boat is really the right decision. People take amazing photos with either brand. And remember, most of us never really fully utilize the cameras that we own - what usually holds us back is our photographic ability. A good photographer would be able to take striking photos with a pinhole camera ;)

If anybody wants to read more about Nikon vs. Canon (which is a flame war issue on some photography message boards), this might be an interesting comparison - admittedly, it's written by a pro Nikon photographer but the points that he makes are very good and even he admits that both brands take excellent photographs and a lot of it is personal preference. I agree completely. Which is why I suggested the body and buy a seperate lense.. the stock D50 lense is decent to good.

why not have one single common sump then you only need one ATO, one skimmer, one heater, one controller, see where im going with this?

Thanks! I wouldn't be too worried about the sting.. but obviously I would be aware of where it's at. :)

If you're coming from a 55 I would go with at least a 90. The 75 is only another 5" wider then the 55, and so is the 90, but the 90 would give you better height if you like that.

Personally I like the longer wider look, which is why I went with a 75 over the 90. I've had a 90 before and chose the 75 over it this time.

However, I would have chose the 120 over all of them but it didn't work out right now due to moving and what not. The 120 is 48" x 24" x 24" which is a great size tank to stay at 4' instead of going to a 6' tank.

My tank is an AGA MegaFlow.

I have the Water General RO/DI unit. I have the Tunze ATO. I love it it works great. Just don't mount the controller close to your ballasts. that's the only problem i've had withi it. (once it was installed! ha ha ha)

I agree, if you could figure it out which I can't I would def go that route!

I agree with you on that and I am not encouraging anybody to do so. I only learned this because I dip flake food in the surface of the water before feeding so they can sink and one day the foxface and clownfish came up to get first dibs on the meal. Caution should be taken with alot of the creature in our tanks as there are many things that are toxic and can hurt you, especially if you have some type of reaction to it. However I still think the risk of being stung by this fish is low (unless you try to grab it) because of its defensive, not offensive, nature.
 
I don''t know anything about FOX's, but my Lion is pretty cool. IF he feels threaten he will dip down and aim his dorsal fins at you, but is really pretty calm. I put fish in front of him and let them go and he sucks them up..I am more worried about my puffers teeth. He can chomp stuff in half.
 
Geeze Eric, I get the impression one day we just won't hear from you all of a sudden. Mean Tank owners don't live long. :eek: Be careful, will ya?
