Wow...those seahorses are sweet!

I wish I knew why my sand looks so dirty compared to yours...mine has lots of pink and purple flakes in it, which I can only assume are corraline or shell fragments.

Good start on the nano. I've had excellent luck keeping a wide variety of softies/shrooms and even montipora cap. grows extremely well under the stock lights.

I'm posting new pictures when I get home tonight. The tank is really looking nice since I worked on it all last night but I wanted to give the corals time to stop freaking out.

love those seahorses what do they eat

Thanks! Right now they are getting a mix of brine, mysis and bloodworms.

I like what you put in your nano, i seen a seahorse tank at my lfs today, looks awesome, in my lfs's main tank they have a thing of sun corals (which to my surprise was they were all open) i wish i had taken a pic of it too (with my camera phone.)

WOW! Just fininshed reading most of the 78 pages! What a wild ride this thread has been! Would have never known it existed if you hadn't posted over in the Nano Section NanoGurl...Great Tank! :D

I've used small thin tonga branch when i had my seahorses. They did well with it and will make for some intresting aquascapeing when mixed with what you already have.

Thanks. Yea, an open sun coral looks gorgeous in a tank. I really like mine they aren't too bad to feed.

Thanks, I've looked at a few pieces of tonga but I'm not really into most pieces that I've seen. Not really sure how it would look, but I am going to keep looking.

OK! So I just looked through this whole thread. I not going to lie and say that I read everything. But a lot of stuff. And I looked at every picture. They are all very nice. NG you have inspired me to do a 75 I think. I'm still deciding??? I'm thinking 75 cause I want to go to a 120 later. That way I can keep the upgrade costs down by using the same lights.... At least at first. There is a lot of good info in this thread. I am a beginner whan it comes to SW. I am an avid FW african cichlid enthusiast. I have a 210, a 55, a 29 and three empty tanks. I am itching to get started on a SW tank and we all know how this can be. I should have something put together in no time. I mean started. I know SW takes a lot longer than FW to become established. Well just wanted to say hello now that I feel like I know most of you. LOL

NG,
Hey Girl. I was wondering I heard on another forum I think that you were going to go with a 210 upgrade? Is that true? Also, how is Ocean on aggression? I have been advised not to keep a PBT. =( I really like them. They are so beautiful. This will be for my 120g tank when I upgrade. I honestly have been thinking about the 210. I just don't think I'd be able to do it for a while because it's so large, lighting, bills. They sure are nice though. Your dog is cute. Siberian Husky? I can't really tell. Very pretty. MSN 711 thinks that her and I are the only girls on the forum. =) I told her no that there is one more Nanogurl. Could be more but you can't always tell by the name. TY for the sugar glider link.

lol hi =) Welcome to RC.

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the photos. It's nice to hear my thread is helping people.. bc that's what I wanted :)

I had FW africans as well.. very cool fish. The 75 is a good size if you don't want to keep a lot of fish or any big fish. If you do, I would start with the 120 bc you will have an extra 6" which really helps with scaping the rock and medium sized fish. I did the 75 bc we are moving and didn't want to try and move too big of a tank.

A 90g is the same width and length, but higher, you could also go that route if you are going to go with a 120 later on. It will give you some more room to do things with, but I liked the longer wide look of the 75 over the 90. The 120 is one of my favorites.

Goodluck and post up a link if you start a thread or need help =) There are some *great* guys in this thread that have helped me quite a bit, and I'm sure can help you too.

Hey gf =)

W are thinking about going with a 240 upgrade.. 8' x 2' x 2' for Ocean. I doubt we will to start... probably start with a 125. We just bought a house... so money will be scarce... but maybe. Ocean will not live too much longer in the 75. He's happy now, but that won't last too much longer. As he gets bigger, he will be more cramped, although right now he's not at all. He casually swims around all day, not pacing due to stress.

Ocean is fine once everything is settled. When we've added two fish since he's been in there, he's very aggressive for the first day or so... establishing his dominance. After that, he's been totally fine with everything in the tank.

If you get a PTB, my advice get a very small one and raise it up. Dedicate the tank to him as much as possible, and don't add any "free swimming" fish to compete with his space or any other tangs. The key is less stress as possible. We've have a lot of luck with him so far.

Thanks =) Sebastian is a Shiba Inu. He's a lot of fun.

Haha nope! There are a few of us crazies around... don't forget specsgirl =)

NG - glad to hear that you've got the macroalgae covered! Seahorses are always cute. :)

Thanks!

NICE! Thanks! I was considering the 75 also because my wife and I are trying to get into a house (god knows how long it will take to save a big enough down payment). I'm sure you know all about that one. Anyway I don't want to move a huge SW tank either. I have enough on my hands with the FW tanks. They are much easier though from what I've heard. Kinda obviously I guess. That's cool that you had africans too! I love them. Oh and I also was thinking the 75 because it fits my budget better right now. With trying to save for a house I probably shouldn't really buy anything.... we all know how this works for us addicts. So I force a fish budget. LOL ! Don't look at me like that! You do it too! Ok well thanks again and I will keep following this thread until I start mine and then I will follow both.

Be careful...I think there's something in the salt mix. Once you go marine, your freshwater tanks just won't hold your interest anymore.

I agree, I kept (planted) discus tanks for years and then I dicovered the joys of reefkeeping.
I'll have to change my domain name as soon as I get the new tank up and running.

(Currently cooking LR after the disaster of three weeks holidays - i.e.: I've no tanks running now, DOH!)
