Try making your on food and feeding that.

Check out this link, great site with a lot of useful info,

Melevs Reef

Just go to the site map and click on it. Scroll down the page untill you see the heading food. It's on the right side of the page. Marc (Melev on this forum) goes into detail about making your own food. Very easy to follow the instrucitons, and your fish will love it :)

Cheers

Chris

Hey sorry about the Matt Foley, van down by the river thing. I really thought everyone knew what that was. (That youtube thing was too butchered up to enjoy it). Guess I am showing my age.

Sigh, well heading back to the van (for now) and pop in an 8-track of American Pie.

Hey NG, fellow lady reefer here. I just got started with the hobby and a 90 gallon.

Question for you and others on this thread... what do you feed your clowns? Mine will not take pellets, only brine shrimp so far. The chromis also just bite and spit it back out.

my build thread:

Hey gf,

Mine eat anything and everything. Sometimes clowns can be picky until they settle in. I would just keep offering different stuff.

Mine eat frozen brine, frozen mysis, all flakes and pellets, cyclopeeze, and artic pods. I try and vary their diet as much as I can.

GL with the 90! They are great tanks.

Tuesday Update!

Not much going on with the tank right now... my nitrates are high again so I have more water changes coming up. I tried to take some photos but nothing really great came out (sorry!) so here are the few that were okay.

Ocean darting away from the camera. Sorry for the spots on the glass.

Finally got a good shot of my fat mandarin.

This FS was transfered over from our nano. It was a tiny baby. It now has four heads and is huge.

No idea what this is. We got it attached to a Fraggle Reef order and it was about the size of a pea. It's now about the size of the bottom of a coke can.

That bottom one almost looks like a type of plate coral...but Im really not sure. Your 75 always looks great, keep it up!

That powder blue is gorgeous! I don't think I've seen many as healthy and full as Ocean. Is that the Frogspawn x hammer that you had in some of your earlier pictures? It is very full!

That mandarin has been busy huntin for them pods alot ey? haha looks exactly like mine haha fat but gorgeous. :D. Your tank looks great!

Amazing, don't think I've ever seen a plumper Mandarin.
Your so lucky it eats pellets.

I would really love one, but I don't want to try one as I don't have enough pods anymore, my filefish has eaten the lot!

Think I'll add a fuge and get rid of the filefish -- it doesn't seem to want to eat prepared foods any more, pods were in serious abundance before I added him.

Did yours just start eating them out of the blue?
I was at my LFS on St. Stevens Day (Boxing day) and I asked if their Mandarins ate prepared foods, they fed them, but they would not take. Don't think the guy knew about their diets, so I got two wild clowns (tiny ones, but very nice) instead.

Your house looks well big NG, will you be starting a "build" thread for it?

Seems that you have planned your house around your pets :-)

Happy New Year.
Conor.

Thank you =) I'm not sure if it's a plate or not... it's different then my orange plate?

Yes, it is a Fungia.

It's not hard like my orange plate. It's very soft.. almost like that flower anemone you told me about a long time ago?

Thanks! Yea, Ocean is a great fish. I am still scared every day I'll look at the tank and he will have died, but so far so good. I'm really hoping he's one of the PBT that live a long time in captivity.

Yea, it's a Frogspawn x Hammer that we had in our nano. We fragged it into two pieces.. one with two heads, and one with one head. They both now have four heads each and are about the size of a small dinner plate together.

Here is a photo back in the nano to show how much it's grown.

Thanks, happy new year!

Yea, he just one day started eating prepared foods. It was really odd. He was getting very skinny and had that "pinched" look.. so we bought live tiger pods for him to try and keep him alive.. but he didn't really show any interest... then another week went bye and he got really skinny we thought for sure he would die... then out of the blue he started eating certain sinking pellets.. then he went to flakes and now all kinds of things... really crazy!

Haha no, we didn't plan the house around the animals.. but we wanted a house that would allow us certain things to be done... so we're happy about that.

Nanogurl, you must do the following:

A.) Step in front of tank
B.) Have friend take picture of you posing in front of your tank
C.) Post on Reefcentral

Here are some photos I took today of my black ora clown Eight Ball. She's all about her anemone!

When Fungia make babies, their plate is mostly inflated with little skeletal mass within. If they do well, they will grow more skeleton over time. In theory, at least.
