so marco rocks is a company then, yes? all the links just come up with forums talking about the company, and the actuall companys web site. i checked the FAQ of the website, but it didnt say anything about the rock except that its very pourus, and they reommend using only 1# per gallon...
and thoes corn nuts from the filipens just came in the mail. mmmm yummy.

lol that sounds good...

marcorocks is a guy marc who sells basically figi dried base rock... he's just got a good reputation and good prices on really nice base rock to seed your system with.

i used to hear alot about a company called tampa bay saltwater. what happend to them, and how would they compare to marcorocks?
it must have been only 1 or 2 years ago when TBS was all the rage here on RC. this is the first ive heard of marcorocks.
i guess the only difference is that MR sells it dry, and TBS seeds it in the gulf of mexico.
do you plan on using all base rock?

TBS Live Rock is/was popular because of the beautiful colors and neat hitchhikers. It also got less popular because of its neat hitchhikers. ;) Some are nice, others are pests.

That reminds me..I need a bucket or 2 again! I see you use reef crystals are they much better than instant ocean? whats the difference? I only find instant ocean round here "/. I agree that salt would be good for a 180-240 ;) haha cant wait to see your new 120!

Ok whew, I got to the end!!! I have a few things to say. They are in no particular order, but you are welcome to search out the occurances within your thread and match them up.

WOW!!!

I don't believe that!

You must be kidding!

Shame on you!

Get a grip!

Amazing!

Beautiful pic!

Love the shrimp!

Marc, pick your jaw back up!

LOL!!

ROLF!!!

And lastly....

Glad to see things are going well with the new house and the tank is still on the burner! Congratulations!

P.S. My wife wants one of those "rats" (blame Marc for the rat comment) and if you would be so kind as to do me the favor of talking my wife into loving my obsession with reef tanks that would be great!

This is Ziggy's wife... I just want to say that thoses "rats as my husband so cruely called them" Are by far the cutiest little things I've ever need (well not the white one that one kinda does look a little freaky). Just in case I can talk him into letting me get one how much are the little guys and what is it like to take care of them?

There's a lot of differences... TBS rock is pretty ugly in my opinion and it's seeded in the gulf... which is a kewl idea... but I don't like the rock very much. And yes it comes with hitchhikers.. but all LR can.. but they seem to have quite a bit.

The Marcorocks is basically very porous figi rock (they also sell tonga which I got as well) with nice shapes and forms... that looks just like figi live rock but "dead." Much nicer rock IMO.

No, I am not going to use only the marco rock. My bf really wanted to setup a tank with it so he ordered some to see how it came in... we have a few ideas of how we want the new tank to look.. and a lot of the LR we have in the 75 is very small pieces, or one really large piece... none of which looks that great. But we'll use some of it for sure.

i would say .5lbs of marco rock per gallon.

the water in live rock is pretty heavy.

Yea.. I'm really interested to see this LR in person. I'm not really sure what to expect buying sight unseen.. but we'll see. I'll post lots of photos for everyone to check out and get opinions on.

We bought extra to kinda pick through what we liked and didn't... so I won't use all of what we got for sure. Neither one of us likes the look of a ton of rock... so we'll probably go with the less then more look.

Yea, we've used RC over IO from the beginning.. it's supposed to have a bit better stuff in it for corals and stuff... but idk the details. It's not that much more expensive so we've always just got it. We don't supplement anything and our corals have always done great with lots of coraline growth... but we don't do SPS.

Thanks! I can't wait to see it too =)

Thanks =) He's a Shiba Inu which descends from the Akitas. He's the smallest in the class... they were bred in Japan for boar hunting and going down into tunnels.

Here are some photos of when he was a puppy.

And a kewl shot from when he was younger:

Gliders are easy to take care of but they are specialized. It requires a lot of work to keep them happy. They need to be in groups, singles won't work. They need fresh fruit every day. Normals are around $50 to $100... White Faced Blondes are about $200... the all white leucistics are about $1700... and the White Variations are $2500 and up.

This lil guy (paradox) cost me $5000k. They just produced their first baby which I sold for $2500:

FYI - $5000k is $5,000,000 so you need to charge more for the babies.

Miyu is very cute. I think it would be nicer if it was over here. I wonder if it would like my suncoral tank. Hmmmm..... ;)

NG - Miyu? Where'd you get the name? I'm guessing that you have a thing for Japanese culture. ;) I had no idea that sugar gliders were so expensive ... 5 MILLLION dollars.
