We got our Epoxy in the mail today. Now we can start trying to see how it works on our base rock so we can get things going finally!

Well NG we just got back from a world-wide-LFS tour. We started out at Centreville aquarium (not impressed) then went to Super Pets (been there before) they had some nice stuff today. Then we went to Wally's, decent fish selection but not that great on corals. While we were there they had the 180s standing on end and there was a 210 next to one of the 180s and so we have decided to upgrade our upgrade to a 210 just to get that extra height. Then of course on our way back home we went to Blue Ribbon Koi and picked up a beautiful lavender monti cap. (my wife picked it out) I also got some prices on the 210 and I will be getting it from BRK they beat the price of everyone else!!!! So it has been a long day and I'm acclimating the monti while I'm typing this. I'll get a pic of it posted.

Aww.. sorry to hear you didn't like CA. Did you look at their second store where all the tanks are? I thought they had a real nice selection.

BRK has a lot of corals for sure. I didn't even know they sold tanks. Nice find I'm glad you got a good deal on it =)

Monti sounds beautiful.

BTW that is some great stuff! You will love it! I have gone through nearly 3 things of it, good stuff!!!!!

Kewl... how did you prepare it for use?

Blue Ribbon Koi - $14.95

cut equal amounts of the green and the purple and kneed them together until the color is consistant. I dry off the frag (on disk) or rock where I'm putting the epoxy and work it onto the area making sure it is nicely bonded. When you put the rock or frag in place in the tank try to clean the area a little if you can and then just press it in place. I usually take a little extra and work it in the area where I put the two pieces together just to make sure it is going to hold. After a day or two the stuff is rock hard.

Awesome product!!

Well we tried out the new epoxy tonight.. it seemed to work okay for the smaller rocks... I don't think it's going to work for what we wanted to use it for... but I think it will work good for small rocks and/or plugs and corals. Kinda frustrating tonight with the rocks so we walked away.

Here is a photo of two small rocks joined together with the epoxy. They are small Marco rocks that we got...

And here is one idea we came up with for the rocks. I can't seem to get a good photo to show the depth and the caves/crevices.. but it gives you an idea. This was the best we came up with... so yea we walked away!

Don't worry, you've got plenty of time to get the look your after.

Try a different epoxy to hold the rocks together. 2 part epoxy would work well, just give it time to cure.

Thanks... it's a two part... we had to roll it together to make it start activating. I just am not sure if it will be strong enough to hold two large rocks together.

We tried pvc rods and zip ties... with zip ties they were too ugly... and drilling the rock was hard without breaking the small pieces. So we tried the epoxy.

Anyone want to buy a brand new tech 120?!?!? grrrrr

That putty stays soft for several hours, but it will become rock hard. I like it because it is sticky even underwater, and stays pliable for a while.

It's pretty hard right now... i put a bit of pressure on it but not too much... do you think it would be strong enough to hold two large rocks together?
