nanostream suggestion plz.

You kidding me or what?
Im setting up my new 120(48X24X24) tank. I will have SPS in upper section of rock, LPS in middle section of rock, and softies in the bottom section. I have a 2" sandbed of fiji-pink carib-sea sand. My tank is eurobraced, and my returns are coming into 4 spots. 2 on the rear eurobracing, 12"'s from each side(pointing down), and 2 in the front corners of the eurobracing(pointing down). These are driven by a 700gph pump, from my sump(not alot of flow, mainly just returns, for now). After headloss, probably only aprox 450gph. My question is "Will one 6045 in each corner be sufficient? or ??? I really want to stay with the nanostreams 6045 or maybe 2 6045's and a 6025 in the middle. or? I really dont want to step up to the 6055's at this point, maybe later. What are your thoughts, and where would you point the powerheads?

Thanks for you thoughts.

i added 1 to a 180 gal tank that had pretty good flow to start with and i am impressed at how much water they move.i think 2 in your tank would be plenty.

Thanks Yinger, was that good enuf flow for you? Did you have any sand issues? Whered ya get them?

thanks, Mike:)

I think you are better off with two 6000 with multicontroller or two 6060. 6000 is more expensive but it is well worth the price given that you can contol the flow rate.

I agree, but at this point I cant afford it.What I am looking for now is something semi-affordable that will give me reasonable flow. Maybe in the future I can upgrade, and selling used tunze equipment is pretty easy. :)

So what tunze stuff would you use to get reasonable flow in a 120, for less than 300 bux?

thanks again, Mike
