Naso / Lipstick Tang Stopped Eating

I have had this fish for almost a year and it has stopped eating. I have added a Passer Angel about 4 days ago, but don't think it would cause it to stop eating completely. I have tried everyfood out there including the garlic, ect..

It just sits in front of the Tunze and hovers. If I try to wave food in front of it, it takes offs, so it will move. There are no signs of ich, cloudly eye, ect... It looks great but due to it not eating in 5 days it's stomach is pinched in.

The Naso is about a foot long with streamers.

Water tested fine.

Tank size is 325 gallons, with about 7 other fish in it. The Naso is the largerest and no one is picking at it

My thought is that the Passers had some sort of parasite that has transferred over to the Naso and caused it discomfort. Hanging in front of a powerhead to me suggests some sort of gill fluke, but I'm definitely not an expert on this.

Thanks for the input. So, what would you suggest? Should I just leave it alone and and hope for the best?

Also, the Passer has cloudy eyes and the left one is real bad. I thank he scratched it being new to the tank. The Passer is show size, 10 inches.

Would you treat the tank with Melafix. I hate to put crap in the tank. From the past they never have work and it always seemed to stress out the other fish. Also, I have a 4ft long Zebra eel in there and don't want to miss with him.

I could move him to a QT, but feel that it would do more harm than good. More stress and much smaller tank.

Look into prazipro & foods soaked in selcon - my coral beauty was sick & made a complete recovery - good luck

Question, should I move the Naso to a QT or just leave it in the big tank? I think the stress from a large tank with a lot of flow or a smaller QT with light flow?

I just did a FWD on the Passer and it snowed in the water. How many times should I dip the passer to rid him of flukes?

With flukes om the passer and no visible signs on the tang, should I also dip the tang? And / or move the tang to a QT. What would be a good product fro the Tang, he has not eating in about a week.

I would dip and then treat the tang and the angel. I honestly don't know much about the lifecycle of flukes, but I would probably treat the fish in the display so that they're comfortable. From what I understand the fluke medication is safe in the tank. I'll bet you didn't see the flukes on the angel before you dipped it either, so it's safe to assume that just because you don't see it on the tang doesn't mean it's not there. Make it more comfortable and then start medicating in the water and the food. Get it to start eating again either way.

I noticed today that the gill on the left side of the fish (I would say skill cover the gill near the edge of gill) is discolored and fray looking. Is that a sign of flukes in the gills?

Naso very thin now, but started to eat thin flakes of Nori that would float by his mouth.

Did a freshwater dip last night. I did not see any big flukes come off, but the tang seems more active this morning. FWD for 10min.

Tang is eating a little more today, plan on another FWD tonight.

Good to hear progress! Have you tried to medicate the food now that it's eating?

Thank you for your help. Yes, I am soaking the Nori in selcon and putting selcon directly into the display tank, via the Tunzi. He is eating a little more each day. I tried a 2nd dip last night, but after 30 seconds he would not move at all. So I put him back into the main display. Swimming fine today.

Today he ate the Marine pellets and spectrum pellets but, still not eating full speed as in the pass. However, eating more each day, thank God.

The passer is also now eating and his left eye has cleared up. The right eye really took a hit from the flukes and know is infective. I was thinking to move him into a QT, but the passer is a show size at 15". It would be a tight fit, but since he is improving.... well, I will leave him be.

The prazipro arrived today, but since the fish are getting better and the other fish are showing no signs, I HATE to treat the main tank. I thank I will do another big water change Friday and see how they come along.

I will also hold off on the FWD's tonight and hit it again Thursday. There is no doubt that done correctly, they are life savers.
