Naso Tang- Picky Eater

I recently put a 3" blonde naso tang in my tank and he only wants to pick at the rock. He's ignored sheets of nori, frozen food (mixed variety), and live brine shrimp. He is very active and appears healthy, but I am concerned that he won't eat anything other than what's on the rocks. I'm not sure what he's finding to eat on the rocks because they are mostly coraline covered. I'm sure he's finding something, but I don't know if there's enough to sustain him. I've tried soaking the food with a garlic additive, and don't know what else to try. Any ideas? When should I get concerned?

are you putting it on a clip or rubberbanding it to the rock?
If he's picking at rocks... try rubberbanding the sheets to the rocks, see if he picks the sheet. A lot of times thats the best way to get picky grazers going, especially if you dont have another fish to teach him to eat off the clip.

I had the same problem with my blonde Naso, he just eventually came around.

He still isnt really eating good off the food I put into the tank that all the other fish love, but he really munches off the algae clip.

I got a small piece of LR, zip tied a piece of nori to it and sunk it to the bottom, he started picking at it there and within a day or two he figured out the nori was food and then would just eat it off the algae clip stuck to the glass.

It was about 2 weeks though before he really ate well from the nori and like I said, he still isnt a real pig for prepared foods. I feed a large variety and he only picks a couple pieces out of the mix whereas all the other fish attack the food like it's candy.
