Naso Tang

I looked at the Dr's website at Naso Tangs. Which one do I want? They come from 6 different areas.

I want a very vibrant colored one.

blonde naso (naso elegans) come from the indian ocean and red sea, while the regular naso (naso lituratus) comes from the indo-pacific area. hawaii generally has the brightest colors of the regular naso but they are more rare and cost more.

if you like a vibrant colored one, i'd say pick between a blonde naso or a hawaiian regular naso. blonde is regularly available while the hawaiian one may need some wait time.

one word of caution, for naso tangs try to buy one larger than 5". specimens smaller than 5" have a track record of not acclimating well to captivity.

Sorry t11t5 if this is a hijack, but generally speaking, how "peaceful" are Naso Tangs in comparison with other Tangs (Zebrasoma, Acanthurus, etc.)? I'm also interested in getting a Naso, specifically a "blonde" one.

naso is a very peaceful tang.

how big is your tank? the absolute minimum tank dimensions to keep a naso tang is 96" x 30", with a 10-foot tank being more ideal.
