Nassarius Snail questions

Aren't there 2 different kinds?
I read somewhere that one was good and one was not so good. I think I read that the good one's siphon was plain white and the other one was mottled?

I am wanting to get a few more to supplement the 4 I have to keep the sand stirred (they are doing a great job, I just need more of them)

The ones I have, have a plain white siphon tube, I was looking at pieces-of-the-reef on ebay and they had nice prices and were in FL but the picture of their Nassarius had the mottled tube.

Just wanted to make sure before I ordered any and cant remember where I saw the previous info.

TIA

Ok, thanks for that. I read through and dont think this guy is listing the wrong thing, unless the picture and the actual snail dont match.

Here is his pic for the vibex.

and I currently have the Super Tongan nassarius snails from Liveaquaria. I was going to order a few corals also and when you factor in this place (which I have heard good things about from posters on here) that I can get both in 1 order for 1 shipping. And having to pay seperate shipping for corals and snails from live aquaria. Was just wondering....

I have a day off work next week so I will finally be home and able to receive a shipment which is why i am trying to figure out best place to order from

As greenbean says, there are a bunch of kinds of Nassarius. The taxonomy changes often, with subgenera being elevated and genera reclassified, but there are over 300 species currently placed in the genus Nassarius, and at least 120 species in other genera in the family Nassariidae.

Cheers,

Don
