Natural Blue's Red Sea Reefer 250 Build

Had a pistol and goby pair before, while they are cool to watch, that little pistol made a mess... Constantly blowing sand off my rock and corals after he would go on a tear digging all over the tank... Sand stoms almost every other day. My six line was also a grump.. Picked on everyone in the tank.

Good to know, definitely don't want a sand storm all the time. Were you using really fine grain sand like oolite? I plan on using CaribSea Pink Fiji sand.

Lol.. I had a tiger pistol.. And the Randall's one... The Randall never came out much.. I thought he was a goner and eventually saw him.. He was hanging out with the tiger and goby... He didn't cause any sandstorms... But, I only seen him a couple times

It's "nice" to have a wish list of fish but you're still quite a ways from populating your tank. My tank is 4 months old and all I have are a pair of Clowns, a Firefish and Royal Gramma. I've had a Green Chromis in quarantine for about six weeks. The point being it is a very slow process if you want to do it right.

We quarantined the first time we started the hobby and honestly from our perspective all it seem to do was stress the fish out even more, maybe we weren't doing it properly. I don't plan to stock that all at once for sure but this time we'll start with some clowns and we will be very selective of what we pick at the LFS, who does run a quarantine system once he receives a new order of fish.

Small delay with the tank. Red Sea shipped a black tank to the wholesaler and LFS spent some time on the phone this afternoon and Red Sea is now sending the white tank direct to store so probably be next week to get it.

I did have some progress on the Kessil AP700. Kessil is sending me a new unit, so I was pretty stoked at the customer service they offered and provided the new unit works I can live with some lacking APP functionality since the LEDs are actually pretty amazing.

And because this thread lacks pictures I did get my new Skimz SM143, my individually switched power strips, and the Kessil mounting arms. Oh, and here's a pic of the rocks just waiting to be showcased.

5 Stage RODI is installed. The last carbon filter looks like this, is that normal? I'm making RODI water but the water in that housing looks low?

Looks normal to me. Which RODI unit did you go with? Just skimmed through the thread and didn't see it.

Good luck with the build! I set up a Reefer 250 a couple months ago after being out of the hobby for 5 years, love the tank. Don't get frustrated with the overflow valve adjustment...it takes some time getting figured out but once you do it's relatively easy to understand.

It's not branded I don't believe. I was going to get an Air Water Ice Extreme Typhoon III like I had last time but I went cheap this time and looks just like Typhoon I had. Mounted it under the laundry room sink and I have the TDS meter pre carbon and after to check when my carbon needs replacing. Coming into carbon at 5 TDS and out at 0 TDS.

Picked it up at the LFS.

I thought I replied to this already but apparently not lol. I think it looks fine. Mine looked like that until I had to bleed all of that air out so I could hook it up to an float valve shut off switch. As long as its coming out at 0 TDS I wouldnt mess with it

Also, I bought a grounding plug and I need to do a search on the best place to put this grounding wire. Do I just cut power to the GFCI outlet and put on the outlet?

The picture is decieving the ground wire is only about 4 inches long from the wall plug in.

Still waiting Red Sea to ship the stand, the wait is killing me. Called today and they said they had a shipping freeze for inventory counting and started shipping on Monday so they are trying to catch up on shipments.
