natural sunlight

have anyone ever trying growing coral in natural sunlight in az.

Yes, had two solar tubes on a 300, I thought I had it perfect( other than the crap load of money I had to spent to get them put in, but found that the direct lighting period was not long enough. Also seemed to burn my top row(about six inches down). I may have had my tubes to close to top of tank( 24- 30 inches) in the end I switch back to 4 400w. Would love to find the right balance for my next big tank build, I liked the natural look it gave.

I have 4 solar tubes over my 10' tank. I like them. They are not enough to light my tank by themselves but I think it because I have very tall ceilings and they face slightly north. Corals look OK under them but the fish look amazing. I found the tubes and a mix of LED's are the way to go for me. No heat and very little power use.

My mangrove tank gets sunlight only and is doing great. The spot that gets the most sun has a little ball of cheato around the mangrove roots.
