Glad it wasn't wall to wall as that building was small enough. LOL. I will say the door gifts for the early birds was *EXTREMELY* generous. That alone made paying the entry fee to get in worth it.
It was just a Looooooooong *** drive. And I don't travel well. I can't find their card right now but they were from Ohio. One local vendor told me the reason he didn't bring much (although he had awesome prices and I bought from him) was he didn't even know there was a show till the day before. Not real sure how to get the word out on this kind of thing. If there is a national reef club, has anyone considered printing a "show catalog" to send out to people or at least publish on the net. I used to do dog shows and getting the word out about shows was always a big thing. They also used to club shows like club XYZ would cover a 3 day weekend. Maybe you could even set up competitions with "show pieces" that people could vote on or judge or whatever. Competition can bring people out of the wood work.

I know, but not everyone is on this site or knows to check the computer for frag shows. There are some people who still rely on hard copy to get news. This particular vender didn't even have an email address. That's why I suggested getting some sort of paper copy reef meet schedule mailing list together mailed out (to those who want it on paper) and the rest can be e-mail. It might help with expenses and even club profit if you could get together with a bird and reptile show and rent a bill board 60 days before the show for a month off one of the main highways, but that might be out of the way.
I just know with dog shows, the superintendent (whichever show group is putting on the show) mails out a catalog about 4 months before a show. A master list of shows is kept on the AKC or UKC website for electronic access. But these are main registries. Is there even a national reefing club people can join? If not, maybe there should be. It could bring a lot of people together.

Awesome, FattyK21! We are the only large event in NC, and it is always a Saturday...our next move will probably be a two day show, but we have to get attendance up first. I assure you, however, it is well worth taking off work for!

CrayolaViolence, we do have listings in Reef Hobbyist magazine...in the issue just before the show. Beyond that, I don't know of any hard copy outlets...we could put up a sign up sheet for a mailer, but I think most people don't like to give their physical address these days...but it is worth a shot! If you or anyone else wanted to start a site for shows to list and market for that, I am sure everyone who runs a show would list! There are so many free forums to list on these days, though, that it may not be worth the cost of the site to whomever runs it, because most non profits would probably be unwilling to pay unless it got VERY popular...sort of a catch 22 there!
