NCPARS/That Fish Place Frag Fest

the protocol for the ncpars swap is... show up early and beat the mad rush. TFP swaps draw ALOT of people and i have seen the line to get in wrap around the store. Once there walk around and check out the goods. There is no need to bring frags to trade or sell if that is not your interest. The frag swap is not literally a "frag swap" think of it as a flee market. There will be fellow reefers selling some of there goods along with some vendors not to forget the great selection of livestock and drygoods That Fish Place has to offer. We also have a ton of awesome stuff that has been donated by the clubs sponsors. Things like skimmers, RODI's, tons of fish foods and additives, Filtration systems and corals are some of the stuff donated in the past that gets raffled off. Last year one of our club members walked out of TFP with an awesome COMPLETE tank setup. tank, stand, sump, everything. We also have guest speakers and demos at some of the swaps. Our president Dan demoed fragging an ORA Pocillopora Damicornis last year the size of a volleyball and gave the frags away for free. There is just about everything you need all in one place. If we had a tad more space we would prob have clowns and face painting for the kids. maybe even a carnival if it was warmer.. ok im getting ahead of myself lol anyway im sure i speak for the entire NCPARS club by saying we are looking forward to meeting you and your girlfriend at the TFP frag fest extravaganza!!!

tbundy - Thank you for the response. It sounds great. We were going to come down in my car but I think we might need to ask the old man if we can borrow his truck for the day! We should be signing up for NCPARS and the frag swap soon! We wish we could take part in the coral trading but we just started corals, our zoas and Pocillopora just started growing. Again can't wait!

I signed up for the swap I believe on fragswapper although we have not paid for the swap entry or the membership but we will soon. Do we need to pay for the swap admission ahead of time or at the doors?

I will be more than willing to give you the tour of the facilities and walk you thru the ins and outs of the club and the events we hold thru the year. oh and def bring the truck just to be on the safe side :)

My wife and I will be coming down. We are complete noobs but looking forward to adding to our reef.

Same invite applies to you too!! At the admissions desk in the fish room look for me or ask if you don't see me. My name is Ted. And I can give you the low down on everything

Brent, from Beyond the Reef, was filling me in last weekend about this event. From your explanation and his, we can't wait. My girlfriend and I along with her sister and brother-in-law are planning on coming down and looking around. Is it possible to hold stuff there so that corals are bagged for too long, then pick them up right before the swap is over? I don't know about you guys but we live about 2 hours and 15 minutes away so we want to be sure the corals are safe.

Yes,most vendors will hold your pieces until you are ready but having a cooler with heat packs would be a plus.

I don't want to sound newb-ish but the heat packs thing? Are there special ones or just ones you buy at Wal Mart? We were planning on taking a bucket with water in it and using a heater. Obviously the corals would stay bagged just floating in the warmed water. Your idea sounds more efficient though.

I use regular hand warmers and bring along a small cooler. I'll add more to raise the temperature or remove a couple to reduce it. I dont let any of them touch the bags though. My livestock stays around a comfortable 78 degrees this way and its much easier than carrying a bucket of water which may spill.

Just over a month to go, things are really starting to shape up nicely, as soon as we finish up a few more details, I will post some of what is in store for the event.

I have had a quite a few inquiries from vendors about what our policies are about who is able to set up at the event as a vendor. ALL commercial vendors must contact TFP for approval. You can PM me here on Reef Central, or email me at dacland@thatpetplace.com.

The TFP/NCPARS frag swap is not a typical swap, and we must impose certain restrictions to protect our interests. The swap is not an open event for commercial vendors to attend, given that it is held within our retail store, not a neutral location like other NCPARS events. The livestock vendors at the swap are limited to hobbyist and individuals who do not operate a commercial business, website or storefront in competition with That Fish Place/ That Pet Place. Manufacturers are limited to those who are current vendors of TFP/TPP, and are in attendance for promotional purposes only, not to directly sell merchandise to consumers. Manufacturers of products that are not products sold by us are not allowed to attend the swap as vendors. Promotion of products, businesses or individuals who do not fall within these guidelines will not be allowed on the premises. We cannot allow solicitation of our customers for outside businesses, anyone who is in violation of this policy will be asked to leave.

Vendors are limited to livestock sales only, no dry good sales are allowed within the swap. The only dry goods or equipment permitted on the premises are that which are intended to aid in the display, or live support, of livestock being sold/traded, or are items being donated for the NCPARS run raffle.

I hope that everyone can understand, and appreciate our policies in these matters, given the special challenges that a joint TFP/NCPARS swap creates.
