Neal's Barebottom SPS & ZOA System...

Yep, looks great. Sorry to see that monti go though, I really liked that piece.

thank you very much... and i hear you friend, but unfortunately i jus dont have the space with it, to acheive the look and the enviroment i like to maintain... it really inhibits flow in that corner of the tank, and i really think it looks alot better and spacious with it :)

but again, thank you very much for the compliment... always appreciated

Yea, I understand, and agree the tank looked better without it, I actually thought that to myself while looking through, but still... hehe.

I guess its 'cuase im in the middle of planning my setup and those Monti's are a big fav of mine, and I've never had one.

Looking great Neal. Love those Rasta's :)

Such a clean look....very original. I agree about taking out the monti......to acheive the look you are going for you have to be selective about the corals, after all you can only put so many in, they might as well be your favorites.

Thanks darryl... very much appreciated

And i agree, with real estate at a premium, you have to be picky ;)

Yeah man I miss the monti too. I can totally understand why and how fast they can take up a lot of room. I really like that bright orange color they put out. It really contrasts with the color of acros.

I'm surprised you haven't figured out a clever way to place tiles vertical on the back panel. Maybe with some of those montis on them, for a background.

Just a thought.:)

I agree, I dont think ive posted in your thread but ive read it from the very beginning. I am facinated by it. DOnt know why, its just like a hot chick being dropped in a room full of nerds. Something different. Not my taste but it looks like something that I would do for a frag tank, although I know that you want folks to know that this isnt one. What it comes down to, your coral look great. THats what matters. Also I love your super opinionated attitude. WIsh I could pull that off. I always just get flamed and/or banned. I agree with a lot of your philosophies FWIW.

i actually dont miss it at all and i am incredibly glad it got the boot, lol... orange caps are a dime a dozen, and mine was actually getting ugly t me as well as an eye sore to me...

I actually jus got another peice of tyree flower petal, which was from the colony i had, that i had given to a friend, which is now back in my tank and mounted to a frag mag... it will continue to stay on the back wall even when it starts to grow out between two of the columns/corals in the back right row... however, im not 100% sure it will make it at this point, as it was not doing well in my buddy's tank, but maybe we can save it :)

i think for wall mounting, frag mags put in place, and then allowed to grow out to the glass and encrust, would and will work much better than trying to finagle a tile up there... im looking forward to mounting a few nice plating monti's like this in the future... but no orange caps, lol ;)

Awesome build so far with great success! An art deco coral master! Looking forward to the upgrade on the tank.

thank you very much... definately no master however ;)

and as far as the 180g upgrade, i have decided to hold off for now... i jus dont need the room yet, and i really do not wana disturb my system at this point in time... i thought i was ready, but after many considerations, hobby involved, as well as not, i jus not sure this is the right time to be doing the upgrade... honestly, i will probably not use this particular 180g, and have something made that will serve better as to the dimensions and look i am going for... I really would love to have a 60" long, 24-27" wide, and 20" tall tank... so i think i am gonna hold off until i can get what i truely want...

but again, thank you very much for the compliments, its always greatly appreciated

I agree with you on waiting to get what you want and the fact you like a more shallow tant it would be more than worth it. I am also in wait mode for a 72,25,19 to 20 tall.

I am actually down grading this coming week, or the week after depending when i can get the new tank drilled... i am picking up a rimless 65g breeder from a fellow local reefer on monday... the footprint is the same as the current 75g i have, however it is 4" shorter, so i will have greater light penetration and greater par at the lower levels of the display... there will be no overflow, as i will drill (2) 1" drain standpipes, one in each upper corner of the back wall, with a 3/4" return centered at the top of the back wall... im actually really excited given the sale does not fall through, which i am not expecting it to do... i will shorten the columns i use and lower each coral a bit... i will still be utilizing the pair of mp40's ES W's...

I am no longer planning on using the 180g i have, and it is being sold and picked up tomorrow...

the tank is the same size, its jus shorter, and it doesnt have a overflow to take up space... simply put, i am doing it for nothing more than better light penetration and PAR... i will still get a bigger footprint tank made after the holidays(60x24x18), but this one will work great for now :)

Man that sure sounds like a lot of work for a 4" shorter tank. Can't you just lower the light down 4" on the tank you already have for the same effect?
The overflow is that big eh?
Is it a prettier tank?
