Neal's Barebottom SPS & ZOA System...

looking good as always......

I didnt realize you had an upgrade in the works.

thanks bud!

and i consider it more of an overhaul than an upgrade lol... its been in the works for a while, jus havent talked about it much, but im super excited... especially after seeing it sort of put together with the stand and such, even though the stand still has a little more work to be done...

and seeing how the sps corals are gonna be spaced along with the depth of the display tank, its getting me even more anxious...

everything should be all set and complete by next tuesday if all works out like i am hoping... it will be a little longer than that before i can get some of the other gear i am adding, like the pair of mp10's, but its well on its way :)

ok, so my transfer is complete :)

first, the end of my other system...

the livestock holding tanks...

and the 65g, and the 75g being emptied...

<a href="http://s906.photobucket.com/albums/ac268/Pallobi11/November%202011%20upgrade/?action=view&current=IMAG1629.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac268/Pallobi11/November%202011%20upgrade/IMAG1629.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"></a>

and the finished product :)

well, minus a few fine tuning and things to finish up like plumbing in my dual carbon reactors and installing the two American DJ powerstrips...

also, i will be getting a look down box for my viewing and photographing pleasure ;)

and please keep in mind, most of all the large 4x4" tiles, that appear to be quite reflective of the light, are all new, so it will take some time for them to color up and that reflection will cease, but when they do, it will look much much better imo...

and my sump... i use (2) Koralia Magnum 6's for internal sump flow, one on each end in opposite corners... and i now utilize a 7" filter sock... the reactors, when plumbed back in, will both be fed with my return pump as well... which is a Mag Drive 9.5...

and my first video ive taken, which was taken with my Droid Incredible, and im sure the setting are all messed up, but you get the idea... the colors, the corals, and the lighting, looks SOOO much better in person...

Very unique set up! I like the columns but will the stay attached to the bottom of the tank when the sps grow out? Great concept and keep us posted with updated pics! Chef

+1 love this tank and the idea behind simplicity. Only one question for you, you say I believe in double dipping my corals as well as feeding them at night, bi weekly... can you explain a little more about dipping your corals, do you do this all the time or once when you started introducing them to your tank?

thank you for the compliment first off... and what i mean is, upon getting my new arivals, i dip, and sometimes dip again... and longer than 5 mins... and at a more concentrated than suggested potency... but only upon new additions, its not something i do regularly jus for the sake of doing it...

and i feed my corals (usually) a night or two a week... oysterfeast... but i ran out a few weeks back and need to get some more...

again, thank you for the compliment :)

Couldn't agree more with you. I'm have been burned to many time with aglae's/flat worms/bristle worms etc.. I like your thinking, I'm up to the point I'd rather not have the coral than the bad stuff.

I'm also glad to see its possible to have such nice growth with out having a ATS, Macro Alage and no sand just live rock and skimmer in your setup. I've been running a similar setup with active carbon but no shimmer.

Keep up the great work, its more than worth it. I'm in the process of doing a similar system but with a 8g shallow frag tank and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the sump until now.

Thank you!
Brad
