Need a cheap skimmer idea

I'm on a budget and looking for ideas for a cheap skimmer. I have a 40 gallon breeder tank and having a sump made. Only about $100 to work with what can work for this setup?

With a tank that size, water changes alone can take care of things for you for awhile. IMHO, you'll be much further ahead to put of buying now, save up, and get a skimmer that will allow for the eventual upgrade of your tank!

Thanks was wondering that. Can I cycle the tank for a month or two and then put a skimmer in? If so how often and large should my water changes be?

No tank "needs" a skimmer..
You can add one whenever you like.. Or not at all..
Its just another piece of equipment that can make maintaining a tank somewhat easier.. Just like all the rest of the equipment out there.. (turf scrubbers, media reactors,etc...)

In general people start with water changes of like 20% every 2 weeks and see how that goes..
